Lot of nervousness and doubt on the board 15:29 - Apr 20 with 4808 viewsCheltenham_Blue

Maybe I'm imagining it, but I seem to have seen a lot of posts suggesting or rather hoping for 2 to 4 points from Peterborough and Barnsley. Some even suggesting Barnsley is a 'free hit'.

Am I the only one who thinks we can win both?

We can definitely win both but people are playing it down because we're Ipswich and although this is clearly a new Ipswich I don't think anyone would be surprised to see us have 80% possession, hit the woodwork six times, have three good goals incorrectly ruled out and for a giant gust of wind to take a goal kick over Walton's head in the 98th minute.

In both games.

Not from me just hope we come out of Peterborough with no Injuries as its such a quick turnaround. Think we need 6 points and will play for them and I feel confiident we will get them
Had an uneasy feeling about PV so glad thats out of the way - new manager is always unpredicatable.

I just wonder if adopting a more conservative attitude as fans might help the team get over their own nerves. If we (not me obviously but you guys and gals at the match) celebrated every big clearance like we'd scored a goal, it might take a bit of the pressure off.

To be honest, we kind of do celebrate a clearance or great defensive work in that manner.

We’ll be good again... one day

Have people had the don’t look down moment?

Overthinking all possible future outcomes is not time well spent.

This is why we focus on one game at a time as per KMcK. Take care of our business. Don’t project any of your own nerves to players or other fans. It’s all about 3pm on Saturday, channel the energy to help the team beat Peterborough.

I can't get this vision out of my head that in 30 years' time, a 60 year old Sam Morsy has his two grandkids on his knee and is proudly showing them his L1 winners medal and framed certificate, saying "That was when I was captain of Ipswich and we won the L1 title with 100 points".

These players are winners, they have a winning mentality at the club, and they most definitely want to win every game. And that keeps me from getting my head in a spin.

You are. I love your optimism, and our form/professionalism and squad suggests we can, BUT I/we have just seen it all over the years from Clive Thomas, to that awful Easter in 81’, 86’, all those Burley play offs, that Walsall game in 2000, bit like the other night, we’re top and up, only for Paul Jewell’s Bradford to score late on, job done in 02’, staying up with ease, and then, onto the worst one in 05’ that put us on the road to where we are. COYB, 6 points incoming!😂

We can win them both. Approached the same way as the games against Bolton and Derby and I think they should be more afraid of us than we of them. Leave nothing behind, no regrets.

Excactly that,
No regrets,

We're a different animal with Luongo and Broadhead. Since then it's been two big wins and Cheltenham - no Broadhead, poor pitch, big wind.. all part and parcel of League One but the conditions were a leveller.

Every chance these next two will be tight but I'm confident we're a better away side now than those stats indicate.

Think we have enough to get 4 points out of these 2 games but could also quite easily lose both.

Feels like a big 4 days in the season.

Both Barnsley & 'boro are well organised and their management aren't dim which is why they are both in the play-off hunt. I doubt that either will be targeting us as a win and I expect they will have 11 players behind the ball most of the game - those games against good sides are hard to win, especially away from home.

I'm expecting 2 draws and I would be happy with that.

Great comment,. Not at all nervous now.

Think we will do it on goal difference.

Having to draw twice to play off contenders /relegated sides and also win the last two on top just shows how relentless Sheff Weds and Plymouth have been.

It also proves that draws are no good. Better to win one and lose one and at the moment if we do that by the end of Tuesday night we are ever closer.

I'll be amazed if Barnsley stick 11 behind the ball.

Darren Ferguson doesn't know how to set a team up like that and if he tries I suspect we'll batter them. Peterborough's best form of defence is attack. We've seen from Duff in his previous post that he knows how to sh!thouse so I'm expecting that one to be a tricky assignment, probably have to settle for a 2-0 win.

We only have to get 8 points if Sheffield Wednesday win all their remaining games. I'm not sure they look good enough to do that currently.

I did notice the other day we’ve scored 9 goals in our last 8 away games, if we are keeping clean sheets it isn’t a problem but we aren’t bulldozing teams away from home, expecting a couple of tight games over the next 5 days.

Yeah, I was expecting a couple of tight score lines too. I’ll not be recommending lottery numbers for this weekend 😬
