100 points and 100 goals is a unique achievement that will be referenced for years to come. First place is something a team will achieve every year. Plymouth and Ipswich getting 100+ points will be referenced as the best league one promotion season, because it is.

I’m sure most will disagree but I’m not sure I really want 1st place.

I don’t want to be reminded that we were ever in the third division so I don’t want it to be on our Honours list.

…..and I certainly don’t want a bloody bus parade.

I just think we are too big to celebrate this stuff.

I’m not saying that we shouldn’t have made the incredible pre and post match shenanigans but I think we are celebrating more the fact that we have a bright future with our owners and infrastructure more than promotion to a league that I never thought we would ever end up in in the first place.

This is exactly what i was saying to the wife on the way home from PR last night.

I don't need to be reminded that we dropped into league 1, so therefore, would prefer no mention on it in our honors.
Let's class it as a minor blip in our history and remember it for the 100/100.
Let Plymouth win the title, as from their social media comments it means more to them than it will to us, and leave them comfortable in the misguided feeling that they are the better team, before we smash them next season.

I concur. obviously.

I’d just rather take a back seat and remember it as Paul Mariner day.

I’m not being disrespectful but although Plymouth is a big place they are a small club with no history, they have been a bit lucky but the table doesn’t lie. Fair play to Plymouth and I actually want them to win it.

I'm not quite as down on it as that, but equally I really don't care about the title either, all that matters is promotion. I desperately want us to get that last win, to finish the season with this incredible run extended, and anything more is a bonus.

Edit: I'll add, that I'm sure the team are desperate to win it, just for the achievement of reeling in both Wednesday and Plymouth.

I want us to be the best we can be every week, so if that’s 100 points, 100 goals and L1 winners medals, great. That’s the aim.

If Plymouth win their game, well done and respect to them. I said before Christmas we should be aiming for top 1. First place. If we can’t do that, 2nd. The primary aim was auto promotion and that’s been achieved.

Given I thought the autos were beyond us mid Feb, I’m over the moon.

Nahh. We're in it, so you gotta deal with it. I think we're coming back stronger, so I don't think it's the disaster some made it out to be. Sometimes you need to take a step back to take steps forward. I'd like all 3 of 100 goals, 100 points and the title. It's a great achievement, too, for McKenna in his first full season as a manager. He was dealt this hand and he's played a blinder. It's almost more impressive that it's in Div 3 when he's been used to being involved with Champions League level players.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

100 points and 100 goals is a very impressive achievement, rarely done by anyone. To do it for only second place somehow makes it feel even more unusual.

That said, winning the league is silverware and should not be sniffed at. If we won the league, the achievement would (rightly) feature on our honours. Far from the top of them but on there still. 100 points and 100 goals will not. It would be like listing participation in a competition or finishing in the top 6.

Personally, I would like us to get the 100 points, 100 goals. If that wins us the league too, great. If it doesn't, well done to Schumacher and Plymouth and I won't begrudge them of it.

The only way we could be Champions without hitting 100 points and 100 goals is with a 0-0 draw and Plymouth losing.

We have only had one 0-0 draw in the League all season (Bristol Rovers away), giving a 2% chance of getting that result. Plymouth have only lost five away matches = 23% (and none to bottom half teams, which Port Vale are). So the probability of having that scenario happen is 0.5%, or one in 200 (but effectively zero, given Plym's record against lower half teams.

Statistically (with Fleetwood being a mid-table team, the sort we've most struggled against on the road this season), the most likely result is that we will not be Champions (Plymouth will win), we will not get 100 points (Town will most probably draw), but we will reach 100 goals (very rarely do we fail to score).

That's not what I think will happen, however. My money is (figuratively) on both Plymouth and Ipswich winning, them being Champions and us surpassing 100 goals.

a score draw would give us 98 points and 100 goals, but make us champions if plymouth lose.

but agree with the rest!

But it wouldn't give the 100 points and 100 goals, which I took to be one side of the equation (with being Champions the other).

Milton Keynes score 101 goals on the way to getting 91 points. So the 'and', as you highlight, is important.

If we don't win the league it will just show have good Plymouth have been. Whilst not having the flair of Town they have ground out results all season. But for the run up to Christmas when McKenna obviously saw our shortcomings we would have romped this League. But never mind we are promoted and it would be great to get 100 goals and one hundred points come what may.

Without 100 goals and 100 points, it's highly unlikely (but not impossible) that we get 1st place. It would need us to draw 0-0 and Plymouth to lose. I'm greedy, want it all!

I just don't get this outlook.

Too big to celebrate winning the league just comes across as the same type of arrogance that many here have been accusing Wednesday off.

We're/were in the third tier of English football, like it or not. This era of division 3 football is part of our history like it or not.

Winning the league, especially in this season where 3 teams will finish with at least 93+ points, would be a major accomplishment.

We should never not want to best we can be at any level of football with the honours that brings. If we were to become Champions next Sunday, I for one will be celebrating.

And if when/if I see League 1 winners 22/23 on our honours list in 5 years time when we're in the PL, it will bring back memories of an extraordinary season.
