I don't think it's sunk in yet 09:58 - May 1 with 2003 viewsGavTWTD

I was there to see the match and celebrations on Saturday, but it feels kinda normal today.

Not sure when it will. Maybe seeing something like "Southampton v Ipswich" on the front page as our first match, or when we make our first signings of the summer that are even a step up from our current excellent team.

Perhaps seeing the new league table for 2023-24 full of zeros will spark it. I'm particularly looking forward to sorting that ASAP.

Anyone else feeling similar?

I think the expectation of it, all last week, and then the dismantling of Exeter took it down a notch if I'm honest.

If the Exeter result had been a close run thing, it would have seemed more real, and, If we're honest, much more 'Ipswich'

This new ruthless Ipswich that GC20 have created is going to take a while to get used to.

I actually felt a touch flat Sunday evening. I think the adrenaline had drained. but then the last two weeks Ive been on edge nearly every day. So it had to at some stage.

It's a strange feeling being a winner. Think I was more celebratory after the Barnsley game as that felt like the one.

But we have earned it after all this time. Just chill and enjoy the Summer.

Absolutely feeling the same.

Massive disparity between opponents next season to the ones we’ve faced this season

We’ll be facing teams just relegated from the Prem not poxy teams recently promoted from non-league with god awful grounds and playing surfaces with limited availability for away fans in terms of numbers

We’re back where we belong playing proper football

The “who do you support ?” question is no longer an embarrassed answer back but something to be proud and positive about. I’ve supported my team for best part of 45 years and they’ve always been a huge impression on my life , good and bad and I’ve experienced some of the great times but this feels different. This feels like it’s planned with regimental efficiency with as MA says with no stone unturned.

It’s like a dream that this club gives me that positive , proud feeling again

It’s madness at my bloody age I’m totally infatuated with ITFC once again

I’ll have to get used to clicking on the ‘Championship’ section on my betting app again. Only took me about 3 years to not do that by default.

Nearly 2 days on and I am still refreshing YouTube to see any new highlights.

Like you say, the Championship is a much higher standard. The tougher games in L1 (on paper) become the easier games in the Championship. You simply don’t get a Forest Green up there. Having said that I think we’re pretty well equipped for life at that level, and it’s a damn sight easier to stay in the championship than win promotion from L1 in terms of the level of consistency needed and sheer relentlessness and attitude.

Not that we’ll be there to just stay up, the ambition is far greater than that. Just hope the fans are patient and realise it won’t happen overnight.

Without being a party pooper.

The real work starts now. L1 promotion is great and something to celebrate but it's nothing overtly special as such. Winning L1 will be.

Now....if we can get back to challenging for promotion to the Prem...then things get interesting.

I'm certainly not going to celebrate promotion alongside league and Cup wins....we're not Norwich.

I am looking forward to finally clicking on the Championship section of the BBC and finding our fixture without that "Oh wait... we're league 1" click of shame. Even this season I found myself making that error a time or two.

Feeling quite emotional Gav,

The 7-1 defeat at Posh, watching Norwich running academies in Ipswich, the Marcus Evans, previous teams offering us soulless displays, players who did not care about the club and were not winners.

Posh, Barnsley and Saturday was like a massive serotonin boost

But the overall feeling is emotional, exhaustion too, lots of driving, giving it 150% in the stands.

Collectively, we have done it, all joined up from top to bottom, it could not really be more perfect. The 'Blue Army' chant at Barnsley on 30 odd minutes was from the souls.

The power of the past 20 years of disappointment is quite a thing, the entire fanbase has been resurrected, an awakening has occurred.

That's true, unless of course Luton stay down.

Just watched the extended highlights and that’s made me well up again and put a huge, huge grin on face! In fact, I’m going to watch the highlights again right now. I’ll bookmark it so I can play it back whenever I’m feeling a bit flat!

As others have said, there was actually a massive come down for me during the Exeter game and honestly I didn't really watch it much once we went 3 nil up and I don't remember seeing much at all after we scored the fourth. I guess we'd all hyped ourselves up so much, that the game itself was just relief that we didn't "do an Ipswich" even though we all know we aren't that side any more, it's still very difficult to shake off the last 15/20 years of pain in just one season.

I'm not really "excited" about being in the Championship oddly, as it's where I think we should always have been, but I'm happy that we are back and genuinely feel that we are far better equipped and will do more than just tread water in the league, we will make a genuine push for promotion and I wouldn't be surprised to see us have a similar season to the one we've just had.

It's a strange one, playing the likes of Preston and Birmingham was standard for us for nearly 20 years and was at the point where it was pretty dull. It's not so much the teams we will play that I'm looking forward to, because we've played them all plenty, it's coming into a Championship season with real momentum and a feel good factor which is new for us.
