Obviously I'm happy about it, but with people like Rooney and Schumacher on the shortlist for the Saints job, I wonder why KM isn't being discussed?

I think it's pretty clear that he's not going to join another championship side. We are a project he seems to believe in and committed to.
He's still learning his trade.
Im not even convinced he would be in a rush to take a premiership job quite yet. He's got time on his side for all that and many of those on offer would be a difficult gig to pick up.
Plus other clubs and bookies know that we can fend off a lot of interest of top of all that.
So Im not surprised he's not being linked with that or other jobs right now. |  |

Agreed. McKenna is a one trick pony who with all the resources available still couldn’t overhaul plucky Plymouth. Thier manager is way better qualified and had them playing super football. He’d defo be my man. |  |

This was my thinking. As much as we love him, as brilliant as the football is, and as well as he's done getting us up, to the outside world he's had one full season as a manager, and at League 1 level.
The wider (and especially higher) football world don't see that as much to write home about from inside their own football bubbles. I was at a mate's birthday yesterday (a Liverpool supporter) and when I mentioned we'd scored 101 goals he said, "Yeah, but in League 1." We, and McKenna, are not that big a deal (yet). |

And rightly so. He's far too good for Southampton. I know that does mean he's too good for us too, but why would he essentially move sideways when in a couple of years he knows he'll be the Tottenham or Manchester United manager? Going to Southampton would only be a risk of failure on his CV, whereas, unless he gets us relegated, his Ipswich stint will always be seen as a success. |  |

The difference is we're a League 1 club. That's a normal place for rookies to start out. Prem clubs may well be keeping a close eye but they won't be making a move yet, is my point. It's too soon and too much of a risk for them. |  |
