We are so lucky to have him. Credit to Mark Ashton 19:00 - May 25 with 3618 viewsmuhrensleftfoot

A few young managers doing well. Nagelsmann at Bayern is the stand out, but in England, the likes of Vincent Kompany, Michael Carrick, Mikel Arteta, even Russell Martin. But I wouldn’t swap any of them for Kieran McKenna. I just hope we can keep him for at least the next 4 or 5 years because I believe he’s the best. I fully expect we’ll be challenging the top six next season.

Nagelsmann is certainly standout. Outside the Allianz with his P45.

I am fairly confident Vincent Kompany or Mikel Arteta could do a job for us.

Quite scary to think we haven't even seen anything near the best of KMc , yet... He's just 18mnths into management. And has a certain level of footballer at his disposal. Thats no disrespect to our players, but being L1/ Champ level, there will be certain things they can and can't do. At least for some of them.
What I like most about KM is his "evolutionary" approach. Addressing problems asap, as soon as they are noticed. Obviously, the better quality of player you have, the quicker an issue can be snuffed out.Hes an intelligent fellow, with a very cerebral approach to the game, imo. And as such, prefers an intelligent type of player to work with imo. Players that instantly understand "why".And buy into it.

Quite. I’m not sure how Russell Martin makes the OP’s list though, unless we’re playing spot the odd one out.

I have become quite the fan of his indignant little march to the iPad on the music stand to immediately review something he wasn’t happy with.

Has to be the first time he's mentioned in the same sentence as Nagelsmann surely?

In Fairness Tuchel hasn't exactly done much to suggest Nagelsmann was doing a bad job there has he?

If Dortmund win this weekend they will be champions.

I'd really rather they didn't

1. Because Bayen form part of 2 champions accas this year and are the only leg that needs to come in

2. Becaues a certain Scot will be so happy about it and anything that ruins his day is a good thing.

Absolutely. I mean, especially with where KM joined us from, where would he have had to deal with top player egos before?

McKenna's done well at Town so far, but he has had the largest playing budget in this League so let's not get carried away. We were also beginning to struggle, with far too many draws against poor teams, until the January additions settled in. Credit to him, though, for identifying the areas which the team needed to improve & also getting the right players in, all of whom were better than what we had before.
We'll need some decent additions if Town are to be better than mid table next season, but I would be quietly confident he can find the right players & the owners will back him.

In hindsight, I think some of the problem was McK's inexperience in January and not having had to deal with that kind of scenario. It took an incredible run to make up for that so he's still very much on a learning curve.

Some of the praise for Ashton is a bit over the top too, appointing McKenna was a brave and inspired move but a lot of the rest if it is just being basically competent - I know it's a long time since we've had that off the field at ITFC so it is a good thing.

I think he’s the real deal. He’s a streets ahead of the supposed winner Paul Cook, who also had the largest budget in L1. McK’s got something we haven’t seen here for a very long time.

Yes. Let’s not forget that dreadful run when we, erm, drew a few games.
