Buying Tickets "For the point" 10:27 - Aug 11 with 9414 viewsgaryinavault

Please desist. I am a paying member as well as a season ticket holder and have a feeling I missed out due to this. Even if a point hoarder sells me a ticket, I won't get the point myself despite making the effort. Sold out by 10:03.

It will be disappointing if there's empty seats tomorrow with such high demand, surely the club should be a bit smarter with that if people are just buying cheap seats to acquire points for themselves? Its the first I have heard of it though.

You don’t get points for home games.

So the OP is saying that people are buying tickets just to get away match priority points?

Considering the huge amount of Sunderland tickets that suddenly became available a week before the match, definitely.

There was even a post on this forum for Sunderland away saying they had a ticket for sale and only got it for the point. It will surely be a problem throughout the season and it isn't like membership is cheap. Paying for it just to miss out to people who aren't even going. Crazy.

You don’t buy a £32/37 ticket just for the points to be added.

However, there will be games where people do it, purely to get a norwich away ticket, that’s all it’s about.

And until the club enforce fines/bans for non attendance there is nothing stopping people doing it

The new system is setup to be abused this way and not sure the club can do that much to stop it.

Also doubt many bought QPR for the point as everyone wants to do the London games.

Really not sure you'd do this for a Leo Sayer in that London.

Look forward to selling 4,000 tickets for Reading away but only 800 turning up

Only way they can track if you’ve gone in the ground is if every champ club has a scanning ticket function, and could send that data to ITFC…

Or if ITFC place their own scanners on away ends at opposition grounds and analyse that data after the game.

But that sounds a hell of a task, and a fair bit of money, to policing something like this

Yes but people got caught out for the Sunderland game as it didn’t sell well, was never going to. Now if someone has got a QPR ticket just for the then it won’t be a problem as it easily sell on.

Yes they are. Even the superfans are to guarantee norwich tickets. Poor form IMO.

If you buy a ticket and do not go to the game then that is your right to do so.

Selling it on time after time with no intention of going is a different matter but hard for the club to police.

But there were tickets available this morning at 10am. I got three for me and my sons all next to each other (although restricted view). I was ready at 10am to get them knowing that demand is high for this game.

There is nothing to stop the club, for the Nodge game, making it invitation only for say first 1,000.

Wouldn’t object to TWTD deleting posts offering tickets for sale, and warning persistent offenders. Any tickets not required, or never intended to be used, need to be returned to the club.

What do we think a realistic cut-off for Norwich will be? 20?

Agree but it’s far too early to say this is a problem. There were no spare seats around me at Sunderland for example.

There quite rightly isn't a cat in hell's chance that "the club enforce fines/bans for non attendance" - people might have perfectly valid reasons for non- attendance on the day - last-minute illness of themselves or a family member, car breakdown, train cancellation etc.

By the time Norwich comes around I would say 25+ to be in with a shout and even then not a given.

You can't realistically police it but the club could do a few things to make it slightly less appetising to do?

IMO they should make a public statement that re-selling away tickets isn't allowed, that the club takes an extremely dim view of fans gaming the priority system so they can queue jump and that anyone caught doing it will face a sanction for it (losing all their priority points would seem an appropriate one!). Just sending the message would put some people off, even if you never actually caught anyone.
