Goalscoring record doesn't excite, BUT McK clearly rates him and to be honest if we are looking for a 3rd striker you could probably do worse.

This is where you need to be careful to get things right. He actually said Scarlett was "one of the best young strikers in world football" which is a very different comment.
Not sure I would base too much on the fickle Portsmouth fans. At the start of the season they had the best strikeforce in the league or so we heard. Towards the end when it became clear they were going to finish mid table they didn't want to play a loanee.

Doesn't need to be a great goal scorer. We've scored 6 goals with six different scorers already this season. And Chappers still to get off the mark..
What we need is an intelligent, technical,nippy, hard working front man, to compliment what we have already, imo.
If Scarlett can do that, then he's a good fit. Not saying we're in for him.
Heard a lot of BS about Hirst not being all that from fans of his previous loan clubs.. KM, seems to get a lot from the players he likes.. |  | | |

Young striker is a much more limited pool and he was early on in his development with massive potential which is why he was being loaned there in the first place. Given the choice of adding any striker in the league to our squad last season I doubt he would have been in his top 3 choices.

We're not looking for 3rd choice anything though with these last few signings. They need to be 1st team improvements. Ashton was clear we need to sign players now who will improve the first 11.
That said if we could somehow sign Scarlett perm I'd be all for it (wouldn't take up a slot and would have a high growth potential). Loan makes way less sense. Takes up a slot and doubtful he would start games. | |

Mmae looked way off the pace yesterday. Although he didn't get many opportunities to run in behind, which seemed to be his game more than battling against Burgess in the air which was always going to be a tough ask. |  |

Absolutely easier said than done. But its clear with the market here in the UK we cannot get better than what we currently have wanting to pay the £2-3M we suspect we would be willing to pay. I think even at £4-5M can we think who we could get in whose wages we can afford and wants to come? | | | |
