Ipswich website said pre-match we’d have over 3,000. Something doesn’t add up.

A lot of gaps in the Town end, so 2214 feels about right.

No big deal really, in a game like tonight with 20k plus empty seats it suits both clubs to sell tickets to people who don’t go

That’s still a pretty good effort for that. I’m glad those who went saw us go through.

Not sure where they got 3000 from.

The initial allocation was only just over 1000, then we go another batch of 970ish which sold out and then another batch which no where near sold out.

An impressive following last night tbh, when the draw was made I thought we’d take a few hundred but our support at the moment is superb.

Certainly more there than I expected. A great turn out for a Tuesday evening for a cup game.

Bloody awful getting out of the car park afterwards!

Yeah they mentioned 3k sold on the Town TV commentary which sounded a bit much! I’d be amazed if we had 700 people that desperate for one away point!

I don’t ever remember mentioning it.

I hate to think how long it took for people to get back to Ipswich. It was way past midnight when we got home.

After a stop at Royston McDonald's for 20 minutes, and a one hour wait to get out the car park, I didn't get back into Bury until 2:05. Up for work again at 7. Love of the game etc.

Agree considering the paltry amount Reading could only just muster at home.

This is what the club website said, and you would think they know.

"Over 3,000 members of the Blue Army will be joining Kieran McKenna's side in Reading"

As many tickets had to be collected at the ground, maybe 2,214 represents those to whom the tickets were posted, and those who collected them.

I might add that the "incentive" for buying tickets to get the points isn't so much, say, the Norwich game, which will be very difficult to get tickets for, but the fact that it is only points this season which will count next season.

I hadn't appreciated that the away club gets any of the money for away tickets, but maybe they get a cut, given the admin falls to the away club.

EDIT: I'd forgotten it was a cup game, and this suggests for the Caraboa Cup (as well as the FA Cup) that the gate receipts are split. But for league games, the away team can only charge an admin fee.

Maybe (and this is pure speculation) in the case of a no-show, Reading keep the whole of the money, so it is in their interest to record who actually turns up.

Interesting to note from the following EFL rule that revenues from streaming services are also to be shared in the Carabao Cup. Maybe this explains why Town TV offer only audio on subscription, with no ability even to buy an audio pass because they would not want to share presumably sizeable receipts with the other team.

20.2 The proceeds of all matches (including replayed matches, admittance to the Visiting Club’s home ground where a beam back is provided and any revenue generated from streaming services) after paying thereout the travelling expenses of the Visiting Club, the ground and other expenses of the match including Value Added Tax, floodlighting of the playing pitch and ancillary lighting (not to exceed £200), advertising, printing, postage, police charges, turnstile operators, stewards, contribution to first aid helpers, costs incurred pursuant to Rule 14.6, costs incurred in providing a live streaming service and clearing the ground of snow, provided in the case of the last mentioned item the Visiting Club is notified in advance of the match in question of the approximate cost (such net proceeds being hereinafter referred to as ‘the Net Cup Competition Gate’) shall save as set out below be divided as follows:

20.2.1 45 per cent to each Club taking part in such match; and

20.2.2 10 per cent to the Cup Competition Pool

Ipswich car park isn’t any better - now the 15 min car park shut down is in operation.

The coaches must have got out quickly as my son got home at 12.45! Including a 30 min car journey.

What car park did you park in?

It was a bit wacky races to get out of car park 6 but was out at around 22:40 I think. Back in Ipswich at 00:55.

I got off at Liverpool St at about midnight and there were a few Town shirts went sprinting past me, presumably trying to get a train back.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

This is why people leave games with a couple of minutes left, but you wouldn't be so keen to do that these days with the huge amounts of added time plus the prospect of penalties. At least not the dreaded "extra time".

If that’s right, we should be going bonkers at the club about it. This new points system is going to be a right old ballache for fans who can’t commit regularly for whatever reason. That long-serving fans will miss out to some selfish a-hole playing the system isn’t right at all. Two no-shows and these a-holes should be banned. And electrocuted whilst being nailed to a wall by their nuts!

Rant over!

That makes no sense.

Why would Town turn down half of something to get nothing?

The reason Carabao Cup games cannot be streamed by any club is the broadcast deal the EFL signed with the sponsor. It is nothing to do with Town.
