How is that not a decent window? Especially the keeping best players bit, given we are a new Championship club.
Most clubs in our league are having mini rebuilds or major ones and losing 14/15 players.

Too many supporters seem to think we're playing a Championship Manager video game.
Players are human beings too. This obsession with money and 'upgrades' and wanting more and more signings is unsettling to be honest. Symptomatic of hyper capitalism run riot in real life and UK?
We've signed some great players and secured those that actually got us to this level. Of course the championship is a step up but isn't it brilliant to see someone like Burgess be arguably one of our best players over the opening few games? Another player who some were keen to write off before a ball was even kicked!
Hirst, Luongo, Hutchinson, Taylor, a Man United LB, and 'one of the best young strikers in world football' according to Kmac! That's pretty decent.
Hate the modern football traits of impatience, writing players off and thinking only the hyped players worth millions are important.

The problem is perception.
Ashton said during the Austria trip we would be bringing in 3 players to improve the starting 11. He raised expectations amongst the fan base but, for whatever reason, hasn’t delivered. I think he must have been very confident to say what he did at the time but am sceptical the deals done since were the ones he was talking about.
The CB situation is not great either. We’ve been linked with several but have got ourselves into the situation where we are reliant on giving a trial to an injury prone individual which may or may not work out. |  | | |

Who did you want to improve the 11?
Last home game talking to another fan who was talking about the same thing and when I asked who he would have got to improve the 11, he replied Simms. I then asked "so you would drop Hirst and play Simms?" He replied no. I just had to laugh at him. |
just matching what has happened with what the club said they aimed to do - that's all. They clearly had a couple lined up that they thought would improve the starting 11, not just the squad, but couldn't land them. A pity. We say a lot that we trust Ashton and McKenna and I do - they are the ones who said we needed 2 or 3 in to improve the first 11, and that is based on their analysis of what we needed, and I trust that. I also trust that they did their very best. But we've fallen short of that. That's all. | | | |

This is a yawn fest having to read this.
You can’t rationalise with people that can’t see that taking 1 top performers from L1 and the lads from Tottenham, Chelsea, ManU might be a little bit more technically capable of adapting to the champ than some of our L1 team that have spent the bulk of their time at that level. | |

I don’t think those who take a more objective view are going overboard at all. Of course people can be disappointed. I’ve no problem with it or questioning McKenna, Ashton and O’Leary on it. I look forward to hearing what they have to say.
But some of the posts on here have been OTT. Writing off Burgess before the season started and rubbishing a player for being fat on his welcome to the club pic are just two examples. |  | | |

I think people were expecting the first 11 to be selectively added. Which is a position I understand, I think we are blessed with having the best coach in the EFL, who will be a target for lots of clubs. We should give him the best possible chance of succeeding.
The alternative argument is that there is a lot to be said for continuity and so far we have had 4 good performances, lets go to January and see where we are and that could be the time to really go for it, if we are in a good position.

The interesting thing for me is all those who are bemoaning our "poor" window seem unable to name one player we failed to sign, nor are they able to name any players who we might actually have had a realisric chance of signing.

To me it seems that FFP benefits the big clubs. Loads of clubs, including Town, are getting in loan players. If these players have great seasons their value goes up, and Arsenal, Chelsea etc have even more assets. |  | | |
