Hmmm Clarke is a weak spot defensively. 15:32 - Sep 2 with 5614 viewsredrickstuhaart

JD underrated by too many.

Broadhead has struggled the last couple of games. Need to find a way of getting him into it more. Chaplin similar.

It's pretty obvious Clarke is struggling fitness-wise. As Soon as Williams is up to speed and Janoi is fit again, I think Clarke will go under the knife.

Yeah I can't remember to many people thinking he was suspect defensively last season.

With the way we play and the way our opponents will counter us you need davis like fitness to get up and down the pitch. Clarke clearly hasn't got it yet.

Same reason why JD. Clarke and Williams have all suffered less than great games so far this season ( Williams case is abit different of course. And today was his introduction imo) that tackle was wonderful.

Think that’s harsh, Cardiff looked very strong going forward on their left and Clarke was often exposed to an overlap 2 on 1!

Williams did ok when he came on but think Cardiff had changed tactics by that stage and weren’t such a threat down that side.

Tbf to hitchinson tho he also helped track back and help williams better than we had with Burns and clarke

And will probably become the player we know he can be when he returns. Too many people are ready to sh!t on players when things aren't going right for them.

It maybe fitness. But last season he'd never be tested in the same way he's being tested this season. Grant was very good today and Gnonto one of best in the league last week.

Shh! You are not allowed to criticize one of our own! I said something similar a few weeks back and got 100 down-votes.

PS i'm not sure Brandon Williams is much better defensively either.

You’ve got another 8 down votes now.

Not sure analysing football is your thing.

He certainly was poor today - stood off Grant and was been backed up far too much, which is actually unlike Clarke who is normally an aggressive defender.

May still be struggling with his injury and getting back up to speed, didn’t really feature in pre season, behind the pace a little and this little international break may be good for him to catch up.

Strength in depth in that area though and we may see B.Williams come in after the break.

But he can do a good fist pump. A past player built his long career on that.

Maybe it's just me, but a lot of sides seem to look pretty strong down their left. Or is it we're just a bit weak down our right?
We've used 3 RBs so far already in just 5 games to just one Leif Davis. OK... we have injuries at RB, but I'd say there's the position that needs nailing down. Big opportunity for Williams and wouldn't be surprised if he gets the nod next game.

It's a tough position to fill and Davis is one amazing athlete to do it game in, game out.

You may have missed JDs back pass at QPR, and the two/three times he was turned inside out.

Just like Clarke was yesterday.

Just like Williams was Vs Leeds.

Let’s remember we are playing BETTER TEAMS AND PLAYERS now, so there will be times when this happens.

He's carrying an injury... if and when Donacien is back and Williams is up to speed he'll have a rest, maybe even a small operation. I agree he went ridiculously out of position for Cardiff's first goal, and that's not a direct result of any niggle, but you can probably give him the benefit of the doubt and see it as an indirect consequence of not being 100%. Whichever way, even if it's a mistake aye it's just a mistake. He has plenty of credit in the bank so let's not hastily right him off, that's just silly.

Chappers and Broadhead get oppo players all over them, for the obvious reasons. Both still find space and created enough in last games. And... er... scored top quality goals.

Agree, and also that we’re actually a really positive attacking team that commits lots of players forward. When you’re defending acres of space against good players then they will get the better of you sometimes. I’m happy we play the way we do and sometimes you just need to accept it won’t work every time.

Massive overactions in this thread imo. Bad day at the office but not such a bad player as some are making out.

Not just against Cardiff.
