Who followed us regularly in the John Duncan era? on 13:13 - Sep 9 by gainsboroughblue | Stuart scored two and possibly made the best debut I've seen (possibly even to this day). He was dogsh!te following that though. |
Yep went to vicarage Rd and he scored 2 goals, one after a mazy run (I think?). Was a while ago! Got home and raved to my best mate all week how we'd got this amazing player...wait to you see him! Nx game PR he was indeed pony. But still one of the best debuts in a Town shirt for me.

I loved that kit. I’ve no idea if I was there - I could well have been, as that was my last season living in Ipswich before clearing off to Uni. I barely remember stuff from games back then - just the occasional phase of play or daft crowd moment. But I vividly remember walking around the practice pitches and the playing with my Dinky cars in the old west stand in the mid-70s when my old man took me to first watch the reserves - the brain is both a wonderful and weird thing.

Romeo is a good call to be fair. Had class to burn. Wilson was a game changer though.

Who followed us regularly in the John Duncan era? on 21:53 - Sep 9 with 1546 views | durhamj | I seem to recall that Wilson was almost a supersub at the start, through there was some reluctance to bring him on, almost a snub to the fans who were calling for him.

I was at both games. Stuart was brilliant at Watford that day. Only played 3 times for us in the end all on loan.

Spoke to Kevin Wilson back in the day and he joked that he needed a scarf and gloves because Duncan insisted he stay out wide and he never saw anything of the ball. He was much like our current crop of players a really nice guy and happy to talk to the supporters

Who followed us regularly in the John Duncan era? on 09:33 - Sep 10 with 1435 views | ArnieM | My overriding memory of the Duncan era was a certain young Atkinson scoring an amazing hat trick vs Sheffield Weds ( I think), …never seen such power in a young player, and Duncan practically ramming the match ball into his chest as they walked off. The photo shows him doing that and it looks like there was no love lost between them that day.

Middlesbrough was the hat-trick. Astonishing performance that and I can recall that picture of Duncan ramming the ball into his chest being in the evening star on the Monday. He left to join Sheff Weds. [Post edited 10 Sep 2023 11:20]

It was against Middlesbrough including, if I'm remembering correctly, Gary Pallister and a certain Tony Mowbray in central defence? The goals are on YouTube somewhere.

We stuck a fork in Bradford's auto promotion chances on the last day of the season too. Boro went up in the play-offs, relegating Chelsea in the process.
