No one will ever see Brands evidence, it simply won’t be presented

Well if it isn't then he's bang-to-rights.

What makes you think it won't be presented? It would be a bit odd to say you have contradictory evidence and then not present it, particularly when you have your own YouTube channel.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

He was given a week or so to respond to Dispatches and the Times and he could have provided counter evidence then. Instead he decided to ignore them and make a YouTube video claiming a conspiracy against him.

Where have you seen he was given a week or so to respond to Dispatches and the Times? I've not seen this. He posted his denial the day before the programme aired, which suggests he had very little time to respond.

An ad hominem attack, the refuge of someone losing an argument. Shame, as this was an interesting debate.

Yes I was a fan of Brand but this was literally years ago. I haven't watched his videos in years (apart from the latest denial one) and didn't even know he's an anti-vaxer these days, which as I'm sure you know is completely against my own views.

If you think news and media outlets don't have agendas you're as mad as a barrel of frogs. None of this means I'm saying investigative journalism isn't important - I'm on the side of truth and finding better ways to protect women than what we have. When they'd rather speak to a journalist than the police, something's very wrong IMO.

EDIT: Just to add, you talk about "the allegations being made and the evidence supporting them" and yet you haven't seen Brand's supposed evidence yet. This is a very important point, and something you do get in a court of law - both sides.

It was in the Dispatches documentary. Have you actually watched it?

It's also how he knew to make his video trying to get out in front of the story! It's the risk all good investigative journalists face that by being thorough and fair. They give the subject a chance to try and shape the narrative by giving them a right of reply.

There's nothing more to say and your response was churlish, hence the down arrow.

Lets be honest, he's known this was coming and been looking over his shoulder for a long time. Over the past 5 years or so, I'd imagine that several 'high profile' men have been reflecting on their pasts knowing their conscience isn't completely clean and a chicken could soon be coming home to roost.

Churlish? Bit rich given I was responding to your ad hominem attack.

There's at least 3 points in there you've decided to swerve.

A classic tactic of groomers too. Build an audience (literally in this case) who will defend you and discredit the evidence and people presenting it every turn.

Same as used by Trump et al. with their "alternative media" delusion and toxicity.

Fair enough, I obviously missed that bit.

Let's see what, if any, evidence he has. As I've said, if he doesn't release any after saying he has it then he's caught bang to rights in my book (not that I don't think he is already, just this will unequivocally confirm it).

You may not be able to get past the paywall, but this is a rather bizarre comment piece (perhaps only to be expected given the author) that tries to ride several horses at once.

Bizarre indeed. Other than several inevitable digs at the BBC and lefties I'm not sure I've come away particularly enlightened.
I haven't engaged with this thread yet but I would say that I was probably a bit in thrall with Brand back in the day
I thought he was different and sometimes had something to say that I wanted to hear.
However, he drifted in to bellend teritory some time ago.
The allegations are terrible, but I do want him to be heard.
Not because I support him in anyway, but I want to see effective justice rather than our (society) judge and jury routine.

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

May be misreading but she almost seems to be calling herself a hypocrite - hauling Brand over the coals for Sachsgate when he seemed on the political left but now defending him as he's on the right?

Apologies if it's already been said, but one of the really sad things about all this is just how talentless, unfunny, and witless he is. On his radio show when he interacts with people (without any script, or the possibility to wave his hands around etc etc), he's just mind-bogglingly dull. The same with his opinions about politics, when he was a big deal a few years ago - his opinions were equivalent to those of a precocious GCSE student.

It's a really sad reflection on society that someone whose only redeeming feature (from the perspective of a broadcaster/publisher etc) was the possibility that they might say or do something sexually inappropriate became such a big star.

I'm not sure I've ever heard the words "fair", "balanced", "Allison" and "Pearson" in the same sentence!

She's certainly changed from the time she used to be rather uncontroversial on the BBC 2 arts' programme, the Late Show.
