Why do you think people like Brand, Trump and many many others spend so much time attacking the so-called 'mainstream media' and so much time championing 'citizen journalism'?
So that when things comes out, in a regulated media, with counter checks and editorial standards, their fans don't believe it, see it as a 'conspiracy' and look the other way toward unregulated citizen journalism as 'their truth'. The very same environment that has allowed the likes of Alex Jones to thrive.
A fair few on here fall for the same trick constantly. |
Yes, the whole approach is obvious, just interesting to see how the bubbles overlap. It's not really surprising to see those still arguing vehemently to defend Brexit in the same boxes. |  |

When I was 19/20, to me Brand was this eloquent, slightly deranged, funny bloke whom I thought spoke a lot of sense. Then as I grew older it became clear that the schtick was actually a bit dodgy, and he was really just a dilettante and a sciolist. In recent years I'd managed to avoid him completely.
