Rodgers, Gerrard and Postecoglou all got top jobs in the Prem as a result of doing well in Scotland. In many ways it's an easy stepping stone.

Two of those were at Celtic and the one Rangers fella was just using his name to get a gig.

How far back do you have to go on this list to see the Rangers job generally being one that makes someone a name?

Both Pink Un and Wrath have picked up on this. Some Norwich supporters desperate for McKenna to leave. I can't figure out why!

Given his heritage, I can't see McKenna wanting to move to Rangers any more than Martin O'Neil would.

And one of the comments on the Rangers website suggests the feeling might be mutual when it comes to their (unenlightened) fans.

Gerrard and Postecoglou had never managed in England before (Gerrard had never managed anywhere), so needed to prove themselves in British football management. Rodgers had already managed Liverpool and almost won the Premier League - Celtic was more of a step down than a stepping stone.

Rodgers went from Liverpool to Celtic. Celtic to Leicester. Leicester to Celtic. Next step Norwich. The downward spiral would be complete.

Two decades of waiting for positivity is responsible for that post and I salute Grandpa for it. 😂

Rangers isn't on the cards for multiple reasons but I am wary of all the 'stable' PL clubs. McKenna hasn't been coy about his aspirations has he? He's ambitious, pragmatic, intelligent and so on. He knows the challenge of promotion for non-doped clubs and the challenge of staying up in the first season. If we're promoted this season and a fast-track vacancy then emerges in the summer, at a Villa or similar, I'd expect him to be very interested. If we aren't then any decently positioned PL club could provide that opportunity, although I'm sure he would assess squad quality and resources carefully before requesting to move.

Mick surely?

The Mick who played for and managed Eire at World Cups? To manage Rangers?

It would certainly be a controversial appointment...

Neil Lennon would be a more surprising choice, but only just!
