I can't see Lee Evans playing for ITFC again 12:22 - Oct 4 with 5785 views | MaySixth | I hope I am wrong but with him being out of contract in the summer and now suffering a second long term knee injury it's surely doubtful McKenna's comments alluded to him getting his career back on track in the future - surgery would "give him a chance to have a good run at his career again" It feels like he might not be back this season and then do we offer him a new contract? To me, no, but I think he has been a really good signing for us and will be for someone else.

Centre mid is currently a weaker position for us, with too much reliance on Morsy

Of course wouldn't wish injury on him and hope he makes a speedy recovery to full fitness, but I think his career is probably away from PR. He's miles off being what we need and wouldn't say he's been a good signing. Spent a large part of his time here injured and when he has played has been disappointing for the most part. Aside from a 10 week spell alongside Morsy in L1 he's offered very little.

Yes, this is his third major injury in three years and he's not mobile enough to play how we want to as a team. I think your ten weeks last season, is a bit generous - he tailed off well before he got injured IMO. Shame for him to end his time here like that but the team comes first. It makes a central midfielder in January a priority too now.

Free up a squad place and look for a potential Morsy replacement, not because Morsy is bad but he is getting on. Be surprised if we don't look for January.

About to post the same. Always thought the praise for him was OTT (although that seemed to stem from people being too dim to work out how WhoScored's rating system worked), looked good against total dross in League One but was a big part of the spell last season where we looked a bit off the pace and struggled to break teams down. Gutting for him personally obviously and hopefully he can go on and have a good career elsewhere but we're rapidly outgrowing players of his calibre if we haven't already.

Fair, I was being generous. Probably 6 weeks against largely inferior opposition and alongside the GOAT that is Sam Morsy. He was really poor prior to KM coming in too, one of the worst offenders IMO. You win some, you lose some. I expect his injury will keep him out a while, then won't get a look in on his return. With his contract up I would be surprised if he ever starts a league game for us again. Can see him going back to L1 next season, a Bristol Rovers or someone like that maybe.
I can't see Lee Evans playing for ITFC again on 12:43 - Oct 4 with 4346 views | Guthrum | The thing I would say is that Town have taken a player with a reputation for injuries - Massimo Luongo - and turned him into a rock solid performer at the core of our team. I do wonder if we're looking at Evans in the same "We can rebuild him!" fashion.

You've posted that before but I don't think I really looked at the number of games he missed in 20/21. Some due diligence we did that window.

3 year deal of the back of that season as well - had he not had that year on his deal for this season I'd have had El Mizouni backing up Morsy for this season and think it would have served us better for a number of reasons

Given the stats that Joe posted below I think that that ship has sailed tbh - even before you argue whether or not his playing style fits Kmac's system... "19/20 - 8 games missed through knee injuries at Wigan 20/21 - 39 games missed through knee injuries at Wigan 21/22 - 17 games missed through knee injuries and illness at Ipswich 22/23 - 27 games missed through knee injuries at Ipswich 23/24 - going to be another 20+ games missed "

Depends whether we can cure that problem (surgery followed by proper recovery) within a reasonable timescale. Unencumbered by persistant knee issues, we might get a player who can operate with more flair and freedom. We already know Evans can pick out a good pass, something important to the McKenna system.

I can't see Lee Evans playing for ITFC again on 13:09 - Oct 4 with 4134 views | Darth_Koont | It's his MCL so not likely as bad as an ACL in terms of surgery and recovery. But also it's surgery to address the long-standing injury concerns. So I think we'll see him again this season but also he stands a better chance of getting a new contract if the surgery works as intended. Do I think we should sign him up on a new contract and will he be good enough for the Prem? Not IMO but McKenna is always surprising us and turning our fan opinions upside down by getting players to the next level so I won't rule it out.

Agree. If we don't go up this year there will have to be development of the overall squad. There will be some natural churn to make space, out of contract players will be let go. If we do go up, that squad development will be massive.

having watched El Mizouni against Wycombe earlier this season, i thought he looked a step behind what we have in the building, albeit it was 1 game of course. Evans is done here, i was surprised he made it past the summer. I don't dislike him, but i don't think we are as good a side with him in it IMO. decent player, good pro but thank you for everything and good luck with your career.
I can't see Lee Evans playing for ITFC again on 13:24 - Oct 4 with 4001 views | BigCommon | He definitely helped us get points on the board early last season. Which proved a valuable contribution , at the end of the season.. Shame for him, no luck with injuries at all.. You have to feel that with the clubs current trajectory, Evans along with one or two others will be released when their contracts run down..
I can't see Lee Evans playing for ITFC again on 13:33 - Oct 4 with 3937 views | RobTheMonk | I think he has something to offer in a midfield three where he has legs around him. But in a midfield two, he doesn't have the dynamism to cut it at this level. I do wonder how much of his performance against Huddersfield was hindered by the injury.

Aluko, Hladky, Walton, (+1) Ball, Luongo, Donacien Evans, Burgess, Tuanzebe (+1) Jackson Hayes Might have missed some one year options, but that's who is out of contract next year. Of that lot, I can see Aluko, Hladky, Ball, Evans, Jackson and Hayes all going to create space in the squad Potentially also Luongo, Who I think wants to retire in Australia and Donacien.
