I can't see Lee Evans playing for ITFC again 12:22 - Oct 4 with 5789 views | MaySixth | I hope I am wrong but with him being out of contract in the summer and now suffering a second long term knee injury it's surely doubtful McKenna's comments alluded to him getting his career back on track in the future - surgery would "give him a chance to have a good run at his career again" It feels like he might not be back this season and then do we offer him a new contract? To me, no, but I think he has been a really good signing for us and will be for someone else.

I can't see Lee Evans playing for ITFC again on 12:33 - Oct 4 by DanTheMan | Me neither, thought the same given the way it was worded. Free up a squad place and look for a potential Morsy replacement, not because Morsy is bad but he is getting on. Be surprised if we don't look for January. |
Agree re way it was worded. I wonder if we've perhaps been totally honest with him and said we won't be renewing his contract so to concentrate on what is best longer term for his knee. Maybe he can get back fit by the end of January and spend a few months on loan elsewhere to prove his fitness week in, week out ahead of the summer.

I can't see Lee Evans playing for ITFC again on 13:48 - Oct 4 by Cheltenham_Blue | Aluko, Hladky, Walton, (+1) Ball, Luongo, Donacien Evans, Burgess, Tuanzebe (+1) Jackson Hayes Might have missed some one year options, but that's who is out of contract next year. Of that lot, I can see Aluko, Hladky, Ball, Evans, Jackson and Hayes all going to create space in the squad Potentially also Luongo, Who I think wants to retire in Australia and Donacien. |
Agree with that, although I think Aluko will join our coaching staff one way or the other. I think clearly a lot will depend on whether we get promoted or not, but can see new deals for Walton, Hladky and Burgess regardless. The others I can all see leaving, whether we stay in the Championship or do indeed get promoted. [Post edited 5 Oct 2023 11:41]

I can't see Lee Evans playing for ITFC again on 13:09 - Oct 4 by Darth_Koont | It's his MCL so not likely as bad as an ACL in terms of surgery and recovery. But also it's surgery to address the long-standing injury concerns. So I think we'll see him again this season but also he stands a better chance of getting a new contract if the surgery works as intended. Do I think we should sign him up on a new contract and will he be good enough for the Prem? Not IMO but McKenna is always surprising us and turning our fan opinions upside down by getting players to the next level so I won't rule it out. |
Having done both I would say the MCL can still be pretty tough to come back from

You're right. While that looks like a lot of players, we're actually in a very good place by way of contracts aren't we? Been a while since we've managed them so well. With the options on Walton and Tuanzebe we hold the cards on those, then the likes of Hayes, Aluko and Evans who we will likely move on in some capacity. That only leaves 6: Hladky, Burgess, Jackson, JD, Ball and Luongo. I expect Burgess will get something sorted, and perhaps 1 year extensions for Vac and Luongo in the new year, depending on circumstances. Jackson, Ball, and JD are all players where I expect we wouldn't want to be in a position where they're signed up too long term anyway. I don't think there's much risk of them being taken for free when we're desperate to keep them. As it stands there's basically a core 9 I would say of Walton, Woolf, Davis, Clarke, Morsy, Burns, Chaplin, Broadhead, Hirst where we don't want them getting in to their final year without options to extend.

Hladky is an interesting one. Plenty of teams would want a champ level gk, I expect we get some offers in January for him. I guess his form has left us with a few headaches, we may well have been content to run his contract down and see Slicker replace him as no.2
I can't see Lee Evans playing for ITFC again on 13:29 - Oct 5 with 1097 views | hype313 | Can't see it. As a club we wouldn't be offering many players, if any, a contract at 30 with a history of knee issues. Obviously under Evans he would get a 5 year gig, but thankfully, we're a million miles from those banter years.

I can't see Lee Evans playing for ITFC again on 13:42 - Oct 5 with 1065 views | Vic | He was an excellent signing when we got him and and imo was one that showed we were signing better players than in the past. Still a capable player, but I think you're right, this may well bring his stint here at PR to an end. I was surprised he came in and was named captain in Morsy's absence - shows that KM respects him and what his presence brings to the other players. I thought Woolfie, Chappers or mass would have had the armband.

Whilst Burgess and Luongo play regularly for us, it is very noticeable how that list doesn’t really contain anyone you’d think we’d struggle to replace. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I can't see Lee Evans playing for ITFC again on 12:27 - Oct 4 by BlueBadger | Evans who started last Saturday? And Evans who was given the captain's armband? THAT Evans? |
Yes, that one. Seems a perfectly reasonable and likely outcome that he isn't with us next year - we'll need to be constantly upgrading.
