Statement from University of Leeds We are deeply saddened that our Jewish community has been targeted by a criminal act at Hillel House.
The University takes incidents of this nature extremely seriously and the safety and welfare of our students and staff is our number one priority. We recognise that students and staff across our community have been deeply affected by the ongoing conflict in Israel and Gaza, and we will continue to provide support across our campus.
We are working with West Yorkshire Police and the property owners as they investigate this incident, and have supported the UJS in swiftly cleaning and repainting the property.
Antisemitism, Islamophobia, abuse, or harassment of any kind is not acceptable and we encourage our community to report incidents for investigation. The University does not support any views or actions which seek to exclude or make Jewish, Muslim or any other people unwelcome on campus.
WHY IS ISLAMOPHOBIA MENTIONED HERE? THERE WAS NOT AN ATTACK ON ANY MUSLIMS. ANTISEMITISM IS ALWAYS ACCOMPANIED BY A "BUT" OR AN "ALSO". WHY NOT MENTION HOMOPHOBIA? WOULD BE JUST AS RANDOM

Actually I was about to reply to J2 that the instance is clearly antisemitic as the abuse is aimed entirely because of their faith with no consideration for their actual politics/values. The same would apply to the incidents you have highlighted here.
It's all the blurry, grey zone stuff you play with for your own political confirmation that is the problem.(for example the MP currently suspended for using "from the river....") Especially as it can lead to dismissing the wider problem when it actually surfaces for real. |  |

I didn’t actually have you down as one of the usual suspects. Regarding “River to the sea”. I I condemn it from both sides. I didn't realise that "the left" was one monolithic entity agreeing with everything that's anti-western. That must be why the Labour party are so united, and those to its left aren't divided in to hundreds of splinter sects arguing about which Russian said what 100 years ago. I'm currently reading DF's excellent book* (highly recommend) - this anti captilaism approach which he mentions here runs deep with him as it is what drove his forefathers out of their respective countries.
The Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact which allowed Stalin and Hitler to carve up Europe as the Hitler and Stalin were happy to find common ground in an anti capitalist stance.....his mother's family were drove firstly out of Germany, and then out of the Netherlands by Hitler and the Nazis, and his father's family drove out of Poland by Stalin.

It's not just one person's banner though. What were seeing now is general and regular racism towards one group of people, who are blamed for what's happening in a country thousands of miles away. No other group in society is treated this way or held responsible for others' actions.
The worst thing is the people doing it consider themselves to be morally justified, just like the comic calling out innocents in his gig.
