I see that Ross Stevens has accused the university of Pennsylvania of ‘ permissive approach to hate speech’ as a result the Wall Street donor is withdrawing a $100 million gift to the university.

In a letter to staff, he said “ it’s permissive approach to hate speech calling for violence against Jews and laissez-fair attitude towards harassment and discrimination against Jewish students would violate any policies of rules that prohibit harassment and discrimination based on religion, including those of Stone Ridge”
There has since been growing calls for the resignation of E. Magill the president of Pennsylvania, C. Gay of Harvard and S. Kornbluth of Massachusetts.
In the following days the backtracking and excuses started.

This isn’t an attempt to dismiss the content, but have you considered just ignoring social media? It’s a sewer. There’s an endless source of things to find offensive on there. I strongly recommend packing it in and use the saved time and emotional bandwidth for something more positive. Sorry to single out one of your posts; it’s not meant personally. Because it's the minor excuse needed to go after Jews in general.
It's no wonder Israel are going in so strong when they have been attacked like that. Around the world people are happily targeting Jews yet again so Israel probably feel justified in using such force for what they likely consider an existential threat.
I am not suggesting they should do anything they want but I don't think the global reaction of the public in many countries has helped. It would have been better to take to the streets with both Palestine and Israel flags and call for restraint. Instead of targeting random Jewish people we should have been making it clear antisemitism (and Islamophobia) will not be allowed to take hold. Israel can claim they are justified in their actions when the world so easily turns on Jewish people and the likes of Iran/Hamas want to wipe them off the map.
Again, not saying they ARE but getting tired of the complete lack of context from the pro Palestinian side (I don't mean you).
The world is so fractured and everything is so black and white now for many people. The world needs balanced people to solve this. Pressure should be put on Israel but people should also acknowledge why they are doing this.

edit. And I would suggest that highlighting a form of racism that can affect members of my family is doing something positive. I couldn't imagine somebody with a wife who was black highlighting racism against black people being told to do something more positive with their time. Baddiel called it right with the title of his book.

Well I opened the Guardian and if that is supposed to illustrate "the World turning on Jews" I won't be bothering with the rest....
"The letter quotes a figure from the Executive Council of Australian Jewry that there has been a 482% rise in antisemitic incidents over the past seven weeks across Australia, since the 7 October attack by Hamas on Israel and subsequent Israeli attacks on Gaza.
There has also been an “unprecedented” rise across Australia of Islamophobic incidents, according to the Islamophobia Register, which has recorded a 1,300% rise in cases since 7 October."
"The Islamophobia Register’s executive director, Sharara Attai, said Muslim and Arab members of the community were feeling scared and anxious, afraid to leave the house alone or with their children, afraid to go to school and afraid to attend mosque to pray.
“A lot of people are feeling very scared to just live normal lives,” she said on Tuesday.
According to the register, there have been 230 reports of Islamophobic incidents since 7 October to 24 November – a thirteen-fold increase when compared with pre-7 October levels in 2023 on a week-by-week basis. It began tracking incidents in 2014"
So in the case of Islamaphobia which is apparently worse, a 1,300% increase represents 230 incidents in 7 weeks.
