Or I don’t know, post it in a thread that has 50 pages devoted to it? This thread is specifically about Jewish hate around the world, not directly about the events of October 7th or the Israeli response to it.
Some people could just stay quiet if they don’t want to devote their energy to this form of racism but nah. They’re here with ideological position, conflating issues and making their points known. London 2023 is nothing like Germany 1933.
I live close to the areas in most of your Tweets and it's not like Germany in 1933. These are all horrible events, the increase of which is terrible and hopefully they will all result in the culprits being found. They should be highlighted as you are doing but there has to also be some context here. You can't live through Twitter as you get a self-reinforcing view of the world which often differs from the reality on the ground.

I think you completely misunderstood the post. The spraying of a yellow star on a Jewish business happened in London in 2023. The sort of thing we saw in Nazi Germany in 1933.
I look forward to the same people decrying my post taking the same attitude when the next "sleepwalking into fascism" thread goes up.
What happened in Germany in the 1930's had it's roots in 2000 years of scapegoating and persecution of Jews. It didn't happen overnight. Seeing a yellow star spray painted on a Jewish owned business in London is a terrifying reminder foir British Jews. [Post edited 22 Dec 2023 16:38]

We have simply pointed out that this is not the same as 1933 Germany. To suggest it is shows a lack of understanding of what the position of the authorities there at that time was. Either that or it is to believe the authorities in this country are actively encouraging it despite the evidence.
Of course, we should all beware that there are few short steps that could lead it to becoming like 1933 Germany. I would suggest that currently the parallels exist far more for immigrants generally than for Jews and I know you are very sympathetic to that cause too.

You are either deliberately misrepresenting what I am saying or I haven't explained myself very clearly. I never said that the acts are worse is worse than the regime that committed the holocaust. I've constantly said this is about the actions of ordinary people and not the respective governments or leaders.
I said that the fact it isn't being stirred up by any government, as the German people were by their leaders in the early 30's, makes it worse. Not the actions. The idea that they are doing this with no encouragement.
Re your edit. The reason people are referring to 1945 is because that is when we all thought this vile Jew hatred had ended. Not when it started. It really isn't that hard. | |

Thank you for such a thought provoking post. You put to shame those people on this thread who are either trolling or arguing the toss over semantics rather than condemning the extremely worrying rise in levels of antisemitism not seen since the end of the war. As yolu linked article says "Antisemitism is now on a level not seen since the Holocaust". I'm not sure it would be right to accuse the Holocaust Educational Trust of hyperbole
