We are clear in the league (with a GIH) and have a chance if making the 1/4 finals of a cup competition, with a real chance of getting to the semi’s (vale and boro as potential 1/4 opponents) and he puts out that side! I think you’ve massively over generalised my post or misread it completely. It was a simple point mentioning that MM and Lambert were criticised for changing their full 11 and exiting the cup competitions so therefore so should KM be.
The deeper problem, if you actually want a decent discussion rather than this weak one upmanship “my football knowledge is better and my dad is bigger than yours nonsense” is how does the EFL cup move forward from here when it’s become a complete non-event just for reserve team players? Personally I think bringing back a reserves league would be a smart idea or players can’t play in the EFL cup unless they’ve had “x” minutes in the league.
With a squad of 28 there’s a huge swathe of players week-in-week-out who aren’t able to play in the under-21s (4 max) and who may or may not get minutes from the bench or spend the week training. Throwing them in to get game time in the EFL just to get game time devalues the competition. | | | |
