Got away with one, simply based on the fact we don't give up 17:21 - Nov 4 with 2073 viewsCheltenham_Blue

But, if we are all being completely honest, we aren't playing well at the moment, somewhere between 80-85% of what we're capable of. The Rotherham postponement has really disrupted us.

Started against Bristol, and continued with Plymouth and now Brum. This might well be the perfect time to face Rotherham and hopefully get back to it.

What we are doing is showing how good a side we are in terms of still getting something out of games when not playing well.

We have resilience for sure, but Brum also couldn’t maintain their work rate which you have to credit them for don’t you.

So that’s 7 points from a possible 9 from our last three league games …. Bloody awesome even if we weren’t really in it for most of the game .

I think the loss has Burns has hit us, more than I personally expected it to. We lose one of Hutchison or Jackson's pace from the bench, which is a key benefit in the second half.

Saying that, despite not being at our best, it's not as though we've been outgunned across 90 minutes by any side. Birmingham had the first half today and maybe Bristol City the second half at Ashton Gate. But we've been in every game, and xG says we had the better chances in all three.

It is easy to forget we're a newly promoted side with perhaps a small squad when it comes to players who should be starting games. We'll have more games like this before the end of the season, and understandably so.

Indeed

68% possession
17 shots to their 13
7 on target to their 3

We've not been at our best these last 3 league games, but 7/9 is a great return and today psycologically is huge imo

Agreed.

Form comes and goes across a season. Surprising that we have got 7 points from 80-85% of our capability.

I’ve only seen the Plymouth game. We weren’t as fluent as normal and got the rub of the green with a couple of things but we were the better side overall and shaded it. So, seven points since the international break, four points from the two away games when a bit our of rhythm? Take that all day long.

We are are not going to play well every week. We are still growing into the Championship and the season is a long one. Managers, coaches and players aren’t blind. We are in good hands and will be a better team at the end of the season than when we started it. I think we are going to enjoy the two thirds of the season to come.

Coming back from two down like that? Feels like a win, just as it will to the players.

I'm kind of taking this attitude to it. Leeds might have taken two points out of us, but we've taken one out of Leicester.

I think it is the difference of how you've framed it. The difference being that in this post the person has focused on the positive of getting results while not playing well. Whereas yours didn't, so it came across as having a bit of a moan, which in the context of our start seems ungrateful and unnecessary. As you weren't, you are then on then backfoot in your thread, justifying your position.

This. I actually thought we played well 2nd half. Birminghams possession is less than we saw from some League One teams. They just sat back and made it hard for us to penetrate. Ultimately poor strategy against a team that have scored so many goals this season.

I don’t think we were as bad as some people make out. Only the first 25 mins. Ultimately a game we dominated fairly comfortably, and there was an element of bad luck in the goals we conceded, particularly the deflection. Playing okay and picking up points yet some are already in panic mode.

Burns it's streets ahead of Jackson, and Hutchinson in many ways. He is a big miss.

I agree, as much as I like omari, Burns is better both offensive and defensively.

Yet still got 7 points out of 9. Hopefully we soon get back to the form we showed betore the last international break, and keep picking up points whilst we’re not at our best.

Before you know it we’ll be half way through the season, and probably still in the top two.

Whilst we did run out of steam and fluency against Bristol C, we were terrific for 55 minutes.

I thought that it was just legs going a bit, but it looks like something a bit deeper. It can't just be Burns, because he didn't play at Ashton Gate.

I thought we earned it in the end, rather than got away with one..... We looked most likely to win it at 2-2, imo.... Particularly pleasing was Scarletts cameo, for me.. I think its the first time he's really affected a game. And clearly looked better alongside another striker to feed off.... Wayne Rooney will tell you we aren't blessed with a really deep squad of superstars. So, perhaps some of our key players have looked a bit leggy recently... We missed Brandon and Burns today... The midfield 2 of Morsy and Luongo are getting a bit swamped, imo.. But overall, our squad, coaching staff, attitude and style of play, is not letting us down, one iota..

Think Bristol City was a pretty par in relation to other away performances this season.
