1981 UEFA Cup Final Team
A bit late in the day to be posting this but here is a follow-up to the 1978 FA Cup final team quiz.
Despite the final in '81 being over two legs, we actually used one player fewer than we had done at Wembley three years previously - the same XI featured in both matches against AZ, with no substitutes being used by Ipswich.
There are three minutes to try and name all eleven players, with surnames being sufficient.

49 seconds - typing speed except I had number 3 wrong initially due to a lack of optimally functioning memory, but instantly realised who the replacement would have been.
Edit: I was in the correct order, except I got 7 and 8 the wrong way around. I also spelt 4 correctly at my first attempt. [Post edited 24 Nov 2023 8:42]

I tried to make the type-ins for Thijssen fairly forgiving, so “Thijsen”, “Thyssen” and “Thysen” are also accepted. | |

As I would have expected, our number 3 has been guessed less than any of the other players in the XI, with 70% of takers getting him. However, that percentage is still above a couple of the 12 members (incl. the substitute) of the side that won at Wembley in 1978, and only slightly behind another two.
It’ll be interesting to see how familiar people are with the team from 1962 when I come to making that quiz. | |
