Probably worth noting that lots of people wear luxury watches in London and this doesn't happen. Basing your actions on the improbable is going to lead to a fairly boring life. SB
George Hirst on 11:44 - Dec 15 with 6045 views | redrickstuhaart | Pet peeve. Sorry. You cant rob an item. Robbery is specifically an offence against a person or entity, with use or threat of violence. I think scousers have used it as a synonym for steal, for years. But they are wrong!

I think it's prudent in certain situations tbh. I lived in London for a long time and there were times I would be a bit selective about certain things. My wife and many of her friends still twist their engagement rings around on the tube etc at night time.

It’s happening every day of the week in London. People, often those working in bars and restaurants, tipping off others.

“The most dangerous region for robbery is London, which recorded a robbery rate of 3.0 offences per 1,000 people in 2022.” Nothing wrong with a bit of common sense though. In the same way I’d try and avoid leaving my car in an area with the highest theft rate. Hopefully Hirst isn’t too troubled by it, not a nice thing to happen - and a big weekend ahead! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Hopefully he gets it back. Failing that he could put his 3 x goal bonuses tomorrow towards a new one.
George Hirst on 12:55 - Dec 15 with 5415 views | sjg | I hope this doesn't affect him playing tomorrow? The way he's written it makes it seem like someone has just pinched it from his car but could well have been quite traumatic, dependent on circumstances. All the best to him. He never stopped running on Tuesday (as ever) and would be a massive loss tomorrow if unavailable.

On the BBC doc, it was basically a bit of a honey trap at times....girls approaching men in bars, finding out whether worth doing, tipping off people outside who would mug them, and kick seven shades out of them to (even if it was women being mugged)

Must say, I thought of that programme as well. It's a funny thing, if I had a multi-thousand pound watch, I wouldn't want to wear it in case I lost it or it got stolen! Feel paranoid enough about my wedding ring.

Well he may turn up late if he hasn't got a watch.🥴

George Hirst on 13:15 - Dec 15 with 5212 views | The_Flashing_Smile | No slight on Hirst or anyone in this thread, but I've never understood the appeal of expensive watches. It's like walking around with hundreds, sometimes thousands, of pounds just sat there on display. Given that all our phones have the time on them, watches aren't even particularly practical anymore either. They just seem to be an item of jewellery/a status symbol these days. None of this justifies the theft of anything. As you say, absolute scumbags.

Something like a Rolex is basically an investment though - the price appreciates rather than depreciates

George Hirst on 13:27 - Dec 15 with 5061 views | OldFart71 | Always wanted a Rolex and bought one when I got some unexpected money, probably around five or six years ago. Not a really expensive one. But sold it around a year ago as I didn't wear it that much. Thieves seem to be targeting celebs and anyone who has watches or expensive jewelry. Even so that's no excuse. If people can afford something why not. I certainly would. I'd love a Skydweller, but at around £25-£30,000 I think that's highly unlikely.

I don't have a Rolex myself, but I do really like watches. Certainly not for their ability to tell me the time (although I do refer to it for that) but more of an accessory / jewelery rather than status. Guess it's no different to wearing rings or necklaces etc, a nice watch does look smart IMO. Each to their own though.

My mate had his watch stolen by a hooker in Krakow a few years ago. He didn't even notice hert taking it off his wrist when she stopped him in the street and started putting her arms all over him. That was a hard one to explain to his wife.
