freddie to charlton on 08:52 - Jan 19 with 2003 views | itfcjoe | No surprise, he has dropped well down the pecking order and don't see that we need a replacement in before he goes. We know two are coming but it's just a case of when and we knoe Freddie isn't going to cut it here. We can't just hold on to him and expect Charlton to wait, they were close to signing Will Godwin for £400k but he elected for Oxford instead at last minute, Oxford were another club interested in Ladapo.......if we try and retain him until we get someone then there is a chance that the only clubs that can sign him move on to other targets and we are stuck

If we could get that sort of figure for him, it would be a fantastic deal! You'd back him to score goals at Charlton too, they seem to be having a bit of a go in this window.
freddie to charlton on 09:58 - Jan 19 with 1704 views | OldFart71 | As my dear old Dad used to say "I have a feeling in my bones" that's exactly what I have with regards to someone coming in today. Don't know whether it's because it makes sense given whoever it is will have a couple of days before the Leicester match ? or maybe they'll be a spectator. If Freddie goes I wish him all the best as although he's not quite up to Championship standard he really helped us out of Division One with a not to shabby 20 goals I believe.

freddie to charlton on 22:57 - Jan 18 by ITFC_Forever | We needed one anyway. Hirst and Scarlett now out for different reasons and if Freddie goes, that’s arguably four we need. |
Scarlett was the one needed. He just wasn’t very good. I think we need 2 to replace Scarlett and Ladapo. Then Hirst to come back.

freddie to charlton on 10:17 - Jan 19 with 1496 views | _clive_baker_ | Good. I think this move suits all parties. Frees up some wages and a squad place for us (presumably a small fee too?) for a player who doesn't have a future here, good for Freddie to get his career back on track in L1 and good signing for Charlton. He's dangerous at that level and geographically should suit him really well.

Quite. Also not fair on the player, having to hang on while virtually guaranteed not to play, while missing time training and integrating with his new team mates.

Complete speculation from me, no inside knowledge or anything. But I have been saying for a couple of months to my mates that I reckon Ladapo has thrown his toys out the pram. He did it at Rotherham, and I reckon he hasnt been happy not being the number 1 striker here, especially after his goal tally last year. His recent performances off the bench have only increased my suspicions, which have again further increased if this is true - the fact we are willing to let him go with the only fit striker on the books being Jackson speaks volumes I think.
freddie to charlton on 10:33 - Jan 19 with 1308 views | tractorboy1978 | A shame he never got a proper send off or chance to be appreciated. A player we owe a hell of a lot too, got 17 league goals last season and his goals were a big reason we were still in a promotion race when we got to January last season. Those two against Cardiff could also prove key this season too. All the best, Freddie. [Post edited 19 Jan 2024 10:34]

I doubt it will be anything close to that. Minimal fee / £150k or something I would guess, what with his contract up at the end of the season.

He's got 18 months left. Signed for 3 years in 2022.

Right you are young man. Still don't think we'll prize much more than a couple of hundred grand out of Charlton for him tbh.
freddie to charlton on 10:39 - Jan 19 with 1207 views | pointofblue | Feels like the QPR game was perhaps a sliding doors moment. If he had taken his chances there, he may have started against Stoke, and had more confidence into the bargain. A shame it's ended like this as he was a very good player for us, but it seemed to slip away in the end.

freddie to charlton on 22:49 - Jan 18 by ITFC_Forever | Bold move by McK to go into the last four months of a promotion season with only Kayden Jackson. We already need two forwards, Freddie going will leave us needing three at a time of year when it’s very difficult to sign one. |
Categorically we will not be going into the last four months of the season with only Kayden Jackson. People really sh*tting the bed about a striker. It was never going to happen at the beginning of January. We'll have two in by the time we play Preston. Moore and Gallagher I think.

They offered £400k for that lad from Cheltenham so we know their budget. Albeit there is probably an adjustment/settlement for a drop in wages for Ladapo having to be sorted. I think he'd be a cracking signing for them at £400k. He's a bit of a 'gun for hire' type signing at L1 level. Guaranteed 15-20 goals over a full L1 season in a decent side. He's about 10 years younger than Ladapo though. Not many L1 clubs are in the market to spend decent money on players with no resale potential. Certainly a good signing for them though. Too little too late for this season I think, but a good addition nonetheless that works for all parties. Good for Freddie geographically and his brother is at Charlton, so no doubt one he was keen to get done.

500k feels like it would be ok business, was wondering if we could get it up to 750k but feels like a stretch for a league 1 club in general.

just not quite up to this level imo. Had a really slow start but felt like from November time we got him and he got us and he done really well for us. Goes with my best wishes, he was a big part of us last year.

Think one of them will be Gallagher but the other will be Watford guy or Arsenal guy on loan who was in Scotland recently
