Celtic likely to look at Hladky again? 11:25 - Jan 24 with 4387 viewsCheltenham_Blue

Might open them up for a move. Sometimes I hate the transfer window.

There is no way that Town will sell Hladky in this window.

Out of contract in the summer. No option for another year.
Believe he can enter into pre-contract negotiations with them.

Still opens a space though. Leaves them with Joe Hart, who is coming toward the end of his career and Bain. They are going to need 2x keepers by the end of this season.

We'd be better to loan them Walton, get some of the wage bill down and stop him being wasted on the bench.

Soooo should we be offering Vas a new deal? Is there an offer on the table or has he already turned it down?

They can look, but they better not touch...

Václav Hladký, oh, oh, oh, oh,
He's just so great with his feet,
And that's why we keep it,
On the grou-ou-ound.

Sorry.

Yeah but you wouldn't want a player playing who's off in a few months tho.. naturally your head would not be in the same manner. Bit different with loans obviously, but perm players... not good.

I reckon he'll stay, at the moment, he's the perfect keeper for KM and we'll give him a new deal

Last we heard, I think was that there had been some chat between his agent and the club, but no offer on the table as yet.

Given where we are in the season the. I think we wouldn't consider.

Having said that Vaz is 33, so if the money offered was over £1mil then you might have to look at it given we have a really excellent keeper in Walton. They won't offer that money and I think we would reject just because of where we are.

It's a difficult situation because who is number 1 moving forward. Vaz will be 34 later this year and it will be a big shame to lose Walton when he could be number 1 for years to come. He won't sit on bench next year so will have to be some future planning

Probably need to factor Slicker into that as well - very small sample size, but I've really liked what I've seen of him so far.

If Celtic put £1M on the table, it would be best to take that.

He is now free to talk to them to join in the summer as it is.

I disagree with your first paragraph- he seems the sort of chap who takes pride in his performance and who wouldn’t want to let his team mates down. Plus, it’s possible to look forward to a new challenge but wanting to maintain a high level of performance.

Which is exactly why we won't get the offer. Can't decide if that is a good or bad thing. It would be at best a small offer to get him a few months early

This just comes down to how settled he is and the difference in money on they table. At his age it's going to be down to how settled, money and legacy. He won't get another shot to play champions league. Respect his decision either way. Quite happy to have Walton next season and for a few years to come.

I agree. The club's long term view of Slicker's prospects are important here. If they believe he is going to be good enough in the next few years, I cannot see us entering next year with both Hladky and Walton. Both are good enough to be first choice in the Championship and whilst Vas seemed ok as number 2 after Walton's arrival, he wouldn't be any longèr and Walton did not come to Town to be second choice. I suspect one will leave in the summer.

Good riddance, we need a goal keeper who’s good with their hands, sick of all his mistakes, and constant tippy tapping !! Want someone who can lump it up..

Not sure he would want to leave - his interviews all indicate his family is settled and love Suffolk

Wasn't sure if he was wanted more as the backup goalkeeper in one of the many rumours doing the rounds

Equally his next contract is possibly his last chance to cash his chips for a decent pay day before he hands up his gloves, and he's put himself in a great position to create interest in his services. He's probably spent the majority of his career on relatively modest money I would think (by footballer standards). Couldn't blame him at all if he's holding out for a 2 or 3 year deal on a decent whack to set him up beyond football.

I hope he gets that 2 year deal here. Nothing will happen until the season is over regarding a contract but I honestly don't see Walton sticking around next season unless we get promoted and he picks up a better wage as a sub keeper in the Prem and luck falls his way with an injury or something.

Walton is as good as done here now - big earner and Hladky and from the little we've seen of Slicker, are better at baiting the press with their ability on the ball.
