That wasn’t actually what I was going for but it seems like you are right anyway! Looks as though that was indeed the case for all four of them.
I’m not sure which other players, if any, scored their first goals for Ipswich as part of a hat-trick but I’ll definitely be remembering those four now.
Bit of a random stat but my answer was that they are the only players in ITFC’s professional history to score a hat-trick but not record double figures for the club. Gregory and Evans both ended up on six, Ward got eight and Bowditch nine.

I've checked soccerbase and I'm actually wrong. Bowditch had already scored one goal (v Kidderminster) before that hat trick v Watford. Your answer is still on though! [Post edited 25 Feb 2024 20:34]

No Gregory's wasn't in his debut season.
They did all score hat tricks for Ipswich, they did all score them at Portman Road I believe, If there's any further detail that needs to be added, I'm not sure I've got it though.

I thought David Gregory got a hat-trick in a Simod or ZDS Cup match against Watford on his debut or debut season? Think we won 4-1.
