Why has this crucial paragraph been totally ignored?
"That matter was referred by the Club to the independent Club Financial Reporting Panel (CFRP) which concluded that under the Rules as currently written, Rule 2.9 did not apply to the Club and so it was under no obligation to submit and agree to a business plan. "

Haven’t seen that mentioned and surely it’s irrelevant if they’re over the limit by 100 quid or 1million. Their argument seems to be “we were in the premier league so don’t be asking us to play by EFL reporting rules when we weren’t even in the football league”. And you can guarantee if the EFL have left a door open, modern clubs with their armies of smart lawyers will be kicking that door off its hinges. | |

Now for this season. Championship clubs are required to submit projected accounts in advance and EFL have the right, if they think regulations will be breached, to impose a business plan on any club EFL believe Leicester will exceed the permitted loss( £83m over 3 years). Leicester refused and appealed that, again because EFL rules looselywritten, the need to supply advance information didn’t apply to them.
Outcome of that is it will be too late make a points deduction this season..
Best outcome is for Leicester to fail to finish in top2, lose in playoffs and get punished next season. |  |
