There’s been a curious silence from Mr Bossy ever since his premature and relentless pant-wetting proved to be for nothing hasn’t there?

Indeed, I noticed that. He was prolific a week or so ago, now seems to have gone back in his hole.

If people were to be bothered to trawl through all the threads/posts over the last 2 week's, there would be loads of posts similar to this.

They know who they are.

Personally, I can’t be a***d to do that, but I did make mental notes. You really do find out about people when the supposed chips are down.

It’s onwards and upwards and Kieran’s interview on the ITFC website is simply outstanding. You really do see the man, without the shutters up.

I just clicked on a few of my own posts to see what I was replying to, took no time at all.

But yeah, rather unseemly and embarrassing for some on here.

Can't remember who it was now, and not someone I replied to, but I remember someone saying they're not sure if they could support McKenna now whatever happened, this has sullied all the good stuff. Something like that. I wonder if they've revised that position or still sticking to their guns.

For me McKenna has behaved with class and dignity throughout all this.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I like the fact he’s carrying on as if nothing has happened, which it hasn’t.

I also respect he’s been totally open that he wants to manage at the very highest level. Obviously I’m hoping that will be with us, but crikey we’d have to go some for that to happen.

I don’t see him leaving us next close season, unless we’re relegated. If we stay up, I don’t think he’ll leave.

We have to enjoy the ride. There’s gonna be some great games and great results this coming season.

Let's not go overboard.

I'm fully delighted he's staying - pound for pound, he's easily one of the best managers in Europe right now, and I'm pretty confident we're now in for a fun season - but he's remained silent (as any manager or player would), whilst his agents have done a pretty thorough tout on his reputation.

I mean, sure, I guess that's the PL for you - but there's not a great deal of class, or, indeed, dignity in this league - the last 2 weeks have put that into pretty sharp focus.

As a town fan only. Its great he's stayed. That's all the matters after everything.

I don't agree with the view that's its been dignified etc and he's shown commitment, loyalty etc. Imo staying is great it really is. I just personally don't see how it can be seen as commitment and dignified when he's openly spoken to clubs about other jobs. As he said it's normal which is fine, thats the game.. but I don't feel committed and dignified can be used when twice now he's openly spoken about leaving and simular to the Palace move Brighton thought they had him.

Anyways as said as Its just a view. He has stayed and that's brilliant for town.

As for the owners thoughts. We don't know what they feel. They may feel elated. They might feel pssed off its cost a fortune to keep him when he's not managed a prem game yet. It's a risky contract for sure when you've seen some others given out ( potter at Chelsea for example) lambert with Evans. Altho that still doesn't make sense)

Either way. Its done now and we can all move on and look forward to the season.

Given that he turned down Palace and whoever was involved this time, by definition he's shown commitment to us.

As long as all handled respectfully towards Ipswich by KMc and Man Utd, would wish him all the very best going to Man Utd, I think that really would be his dream move.

Would be interesting to see how he does, it’s a different ball game all together at Man Utd, fallen off so far in the last 10 years or so, and it’s getting harder and harder to make the ground back up.

Really would wish him the very best.

Don't think 30 mill to pay up McKenna's contract would trouble Man Utd when they can waste 90 mill on Pogba.

Personally I'd say its commitment to a job not the club, which is fine, He's not a town fan. Had no link with the club so it's a given really and the club aren't committed to him but to the job he does.
But I just think it's not quite right to say he's committed and loyal to the club. It's not a big drama and matters not, I just think there needs to be a bit of a realism about the situation over a likeness for an individual.

I didn't say loyal, you've brought that into the mix because your point's struggling. And in any case, there's no reason why anyone other than supporters should be loyal.

But job/club commitment? Seems like you're splitting hairs to me. He's signed for 4 years. Not sure what else he's supposed to do, get a tattoo like Ashton?

Doesn't really matter now though does it?
He is here for this season, arguably the most important in recent history.
He ain't going to be here for ever, so just enjoy him whilst he is.

Others have used loyal flash that's why I mentioned it. I'm not adding my point in soley against your posts. I've shared my view previously on the subject. It just fitted in with your chat with the other poster.

In regards your 2nd point in your reply here.. I'm not saying there's anything else that could have been done. What's done is done. It doesn't actually matter now anyway as he's stayed and for the club that's amazing. But the tags dignified. Loyal. Committed to the club etc I just done agree with personally. If my view is struggling that's fine. I'm not looking to win anything here. Just adding my thoughts.

Agree with this. Having watched his interesting 50 minute interview on TownTV, nobody can doubt he will give it his all. He always comes across as so organised and professional. It was interesting to me that time and time again he talked about performance over than result.

McKenna very much sees the big picture and doesn’t often get dragged into ‘the moment’ (Hull away being an exception) and misplaced grievances like Farke or the Southampton oily do.

So given he is as he is, I wonder how he will view the past couple of weeks? Obviously we can only guess at that and what was happening with him. However, while I’m sure he will be happy with the outcome, I doubt he will be re the media circus behind it. Whatever happened I bet when he does move on, it’ll be handled differently.

My concern throughout was the uncertainty potentially harming the club; it’s reputation, preparation and ultimately making a decision so that we could crack on with what is a short time period to the new season. Were my concerns right or wrong? Who knows. We are in the outside looking in and after all, my vested interest is as a supporter. It’s not my living.

Anyway, it’s done now. He is here and we are living through an extraordinary time for the club. The more ITFC builds, the more secure it will be for the future, especially for the generations to come. In the years up to 2021 the club was ebbing away. It had nothing but a fading past. It’s easy to forget that.

Not now.

To everyone saying that those of us saying this were just imagining it, where are you (to quote Delia).

Hopefully it’s done very soon so we can get on with getting a manager that actually wants to manage us in the EPL.

This fella has been chatting to Brighton, Chelsea AND Man Utd. And to think some people are still saying he wants to manage us in the prem? Ever heard of the phrase “read the room”?

Well there really is no itfc news to discuss is there now McKenna has signed.

Regardless I was right, he was talking to three clubs and nearly signed for one like he did with Crystal Palace last season. Also it’s been revealed he was looking to leave Ipswich regardless of if we got promoted or not. That’s what inline with what I said… that he wanted a move away. I’m not saying that he hates us or thinks we’re a rubbish club but he clearly had immediate bigger plans for himself and that didn’t involve us. I won’t be surprised if he’s gone next season.

Look, I didn’t want him to move on but the amount of delusion on here was insane. I know it’s a coping mechanism for some but it doesn’t change the facts.

I'm not sure you're really one to lecture on 'facts', mate, and relying on made up stuff from Norwich fan Nick Mashiter to back up your argument isn't a great look. If McKenna planned to leave and wanted to leave this summer, can you explain why he didn't, given the Brighton job was his to turn down? Seems if he wanted to leave as you suggest, he'd have left?

"This is about McKenna desperately trying to find another club to manage"

"Hopefully it’s done very soon so we can get on with getting a manager that actually wants to manage us in the EPL."

"to think some people are still saying he wants to manage us in the prem? Ever heard of the phrase “read the room”?"

"He wants to go"

"You have to have your blinkers on not to see that he wants to move on because we'll be damaging to his career if he can't help keep us up."

"McKenna wants to leave Ipswich, so his agent is doing his best to declare interest in jobs that McKenna would like."

"At the moment the club feels like it comes second to the one and only legendary Sir Kieran McKenna."

"looks like he wants to escape to anywhere else."

"There is no way that McKenna wants to stay and his agent is running around like a mad man spreading rumours for the lols."

"it’s starting to really take the sheen off the last couple of years."

"This can’t be anything but damaging for us."

"We need to get on with finding a replacement that actually wants to manage us.
I’m starting to resent him."

I could go on (there's reams more of this stuff) but I'm even boring myself now.

Look, I'm not having a go, but you asked us to read the room. Well maybe you read the room a little too early. Just hold you hands up, take your medicine and we move on. Because otherwise I don't know how you're going to be able to support McKenna after all that.

Good use of ‘coping mechanism’. Nice and patronising towards people who follow this club. Anyway, in the same sentence you say ‘but it doesn’t change the facts’. What are the facts?

For a fact, I’ve not heard him say he was looking to leave Ipswich. Nor have I heard him say that he nearly signed for Crystal Palace, Brighton or Torquay United. Heard lots of reporters, pundits and commentators speaking with certainty, as they always do - but they’ve their own living to make and only an idiot will put too much store by what they say. ‘No smoke without fire’. That depends on the source and their motivation, but none of it is fact.

What is fact is I’ve heard him say that he wants to manage at the highest level. Nothing wrong with ambition. There is no delusion amongst the vast majority of supporters and they know he will move on at some point. Hopefully from his perspective it’ll to a job anyone in his position would want at the top of the game.

Do you normally struggle this much with people who have a different opinion to yourself?

This must be the divisiveness that Phil is on about.

I think he was up for leaving and very nearly did, you think it's all paper talk and he didn't want to leave. Get over the difference of opinions.
