Really getting very sick of it, got other things to do other than deal with that sort of nonsense day after day. Think this can be taken as a final warning that the kind of deliberate pressing people's buttons, winding up, piling on etc which has gone on over the last couple of days will mean posters are no longer welcome.

I changed an avatar because I knew it would wind a certain poster up. That was childish and wrong. Posters are getting threads removed because they have referred to women as “birds” or “chicks”. Not the sort of language I would use (I have in the past) but really not the sort of thing that people need to trouble admin over just to score a point against another poster. There have been far too many instances of needless low level sniping of which some of us have been guilty of. Perhaps we could all make an effort to not engage in it or report silly harmless stuff to admin. Edit. I’ll also throw in using downvotes just because you don’t like a poster. Two posters could make identical posts but you just know that one of those posts is going to be downvoted and not the other simply based in who posted it. Perhaps downvotes could be limited? Huge amount of extra work for Admins in those suggestions, which I think is probably the last thing they want. And I'm guessing it's very difficult to ID people by their IP these days, given mobiles, vpns etc.

....when I used the word "chick" it was entirely tongue in cheek, I didn't think it would escalate like it did.....but I should have expected it really! I'm really sorry if it offended some of you. I think people need to try and just ignore members on here that they don't like, if all they can offer is abuse or a downvote. I certainly ignore a handful of posters rather than engage with them and cause arguments. The ability to not respond shouldn't be too hard, we are all adults. As GB says, admin should only need to get involved in extreme cases, which thankfully there are very few of now. Think about it. Love and peace to all.

I think yer sorta right that it's low level sniping rather then something darker and more vicious. It just seems to be going around in circles and never ending. But it's still resulting in admin having to leave whatever their up to in order to referee it. I also think your correct in suggesting that we should all at least attempt to not engage in the regular low level sniping that many if us have been guilty of in the past | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I’d go full anti-Titter and disable the embedding of Tweets. 90% of the agro on here stems from people carrying over Twitter arguments. I’d give Sitters a pass on match days though, so we can still get the lineups.

On the limited downvote proposal, can we pop some meat on that bone? Could they be carried over like O2 minutes, or would it see an unseemly rush similar to those old time scrambles for last orders in the pub at 10.30? ‘I’ve still got x4 downies to use and they expire in 10 minutes’. Can you gift them to mates if they’ve blown their load early? Can you have an extra one if you’ve handed out x10 uppies? This could run, but I guess it would mean a lot more work for admin…

Keeping this simple, I think the format of the forum is fine. Those who maintain the site do a great job under extreme provocation sometimes. If it was mine to maintain I might strengthen the rules in that if people are rude, carry over Twitter arguments, harass, bully, belittle, abuse it’s a three month ban first offence, permanent ban second offence. People know full well when they’re over stepping the mark and they do it deliberately in my view. This forum is here for the benefit of all and is excellent for its variety of stuff in addition to the football. However if individuals feel this is a place for them to impose their will or do any of the first line of this paragraph, this forum is not for them. Toxicity is a word that’s been used and there have been too many incidents of it. I’ve said many times you don’t have to agree with other contributors. In fact it’s good to see different points of view. It’s part of the point of it. However dopey (in your view) a view might be, disagree but there’s no need to bully or humiliate. I’ve said before, I try to post as if I’m speaking face to face. It is always a good discipline. In conclusion the administrators need our support, not extra work. If people only want to play by their rules, TWTD is not for them and a ban is the only real option.

Three threads removed in 24 hours and all three threads involved some of the same posters engaged in the same behaviour across those threads. There's a pattern. I'm sure that pattern is unlikely to be tolerated much longer.
