I have a feeling there might be a decisive split coming, it seemed to me that Mordaunt and Hunt were frustrated at how badly torn between far right and centre the party is.

This election result was somewhat of a self inflicted wound in 2011 when Cameron got spooked about the UK's position in the EU. Very scared there would be a schism in the party without calling a referendum, and that schism happened anyway.
