Up-all-nighters thread (ooh-er!) on 23:13 - Jul 4 with 2106 views | NthQldITFC | Am I right in thinking that the exit poll results (nationally and for specific seats) are dependent upon projecting a smallish sample size, from a selected group of seats, onto each constituency and then modifying the results for that constituency by a (necessarily) simplified and limited demographic-based algorithm? For example, Waveney Valley sits at 99% T*ry hold at the moment, which doesn't feel at all right from local info. The overall numbers will be pretty close, but specific seats with very specific local factors can be wildly out on that basis. Or at least, I hope so!

Sunderland were 61.3% Leave Blyth (part of North Tyneside for the referendum) 53.4% Leave Sunderland had a lot of EU funded projects. The Brexit result map is depressing still https://www.bbc.com/news/politics/eu_referendum/results

They likely won't retain those sort of figures but these parties always do better than expected. I have posted my theory many times and been told it's BS by people who continue to be surprised election after election... (not you!)

Sky News. Decent studio and Burnham not shy about calling people out. Good to see.

I was on BBC but just switched based on your post and I am glad I did. I imagine watching Burnham will be as refreshing as it is agonising, knowing that he should be the person winning this election. He really is the Jon Snow of UK politics.

It’s seems a bit more balanced these days. Or at least there are a couple of cliques. Each gives as good as they get - one obviously more woke (using the literal definition of the word) one anti-woke (where the word has been hijaked and is used derogatorily). I don’t think that maps onto traditional concepts of left and right though. There seem to be relatively few true, traditional left wingers on here. Anyway, no. Fk ‘em. They’ve done too much damage over my lifetime for me to ever vote for them again. I did in my very first GE when I knew no better, and then the guy got sent down - that was a life lesson right there.

He’s living testimony to the line that if you want the power, you probably shouldn’t have it. A very refreshing voice. Although he’s still got significant influence of course. He’s utterly damning of Westminster though and so seems the sort of person we need in there. Much like Rory Stewart for the Tories. I thoroughly disagree with a lot of Stewart’s political views, but he’s another one who would improve the place.

What a sh1t choice. 2 of them have been sacked by the PM of the time. Braverman is insane

I’ve just tuned in to Sky News. Excellent stuff. Mick Lynch holding Labour’s feet to the fire - it’s just what we need tonight while the broadcasters are getting carried away with Labour.

I agree regarding Rory Stewart, and I would not be surprised if he goes on to be PM in the next 10 years. My nickname for him is Tory Blair.
