Up-all-nighters thread (ooh-er!) on 01:05 - Jul 5 by RKD | I agree regarding Rory Stewart, and I would not be surprised if he goes on to be PM in the next 10 years. My nickname for him is Tory Blair. |
He’s got more sense hasn’t he? I thought David Miliband would come back and rescue Labour, but he had more sense. I suspect Rory is similar. Who knows though - he’d be a welcome addition to the mad house.

Maybe not Leadsome lol, but guests like Ruth Davidson, Mick Lynch and John McDonnell have been excellent. Genuine, which is something that’s been in short supply for the last 14 years. Just announced that Jeremy Hunt is likely to be well beat 🤣

Up-all-nighters thread (ooh-er!) on 02:09 - Jul 5 with 1612 views | Swansea_Blue | Labour not doing quite as well as the exit polls suggest. Tories doing better than the poll suggests. But Reform consistently pipping the Tories to 2nd place so far. So it looks like we’re heading for a Labour majority without them increasing the share of the vote massively (they’re winning marginals, but not getting the re-insurance vote where they hammer constituencies), not a complete Tory wipeout, and a better than expected Reform vote. Sadiq Khan now on Sky saying Starmer will be a unity leader. Hah! I wonder what those on the left of the same party, many of whom have been rejected, will think about that.

Labour seem to be doing all right inline with the exit poll to me. Vote share up 2.7% on 2019 so far and taking a seat like Cannock Chase is huge. [Post edited 5 Jul 2024 2:26]

The story needs to get back to what an incredible effort from Labour to spread their vote share so efficiently around the country - a masterful campaign

Spot on. They got their seat targetting and campaigning spot on based on the gains they've made. Impressive.

I think they’ll be ok. Labour have just taken Swansea West, with the Tories 5th. That was a big Lib Dem target. It’s going to be a big majority.

They will be. Just wasn't sure why you didn't think Labour were doing as well thus far as the exit poll suggested. If anything i think they are slightly fairing better. Could see them with a 170-180 majority at the moment based on results so far. Cannock Chase was a masterful bit of targetting by Labour election campaign

Their strategy looks spot on so far. I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but it looks like the exit poll for the Tories was far too optimistic. 41 to 3 after 47 results is far worst than the exit poll suggested. That translates to 604 Labour seats and 41 Tory seats. It won’t end up like that I expect, but it’s heading toward a massive embarrassment for the Tories (shame lol).

That's true, probably the most safe seat for Reform behind Clacton. Will they get 13? I'm not so sure, some of those seats are very tight.
