I'm not going to complain about it much, all in all they weren't going to please everyone. However the away tickets *ballot* concept seems totally flawed to me.

By ONLY allowing the next level down into the ballot, they're just going to gradually make the band above bigger and anyone in the lower bands further down will still never have a hope in getting to see a game.

I really don't think they've understood the feeling here - saving some tickets from 20+ point holders so they can give them to 15+ points holders sounds like almost as much of a closed shop as it was to start with.

It potentially could be in extreme cases. Hypothetically if theres 500 fans on 15-19 points it gets to 15+ stage with only 5 tickets left then those 500 fans basically have no chance of getting a ticket. +15 can’t enter the ballot for some 300 tickets but the people with less points can? It would make sense to include the last priority window in the ballot so everyone at least has an equal chance.

The club is well run these days, so I would think that if a scenario similar to your example was to happen then they would either open the ballot up to members with under 20 points or they would not bother putting those few tickets on sale to that band and would add them to the number of ballot tickets available and have the ballot for those under 20 points.

Let's hope that people with higher points totals don't abuse the system and buy up tickets to sell on if they can't go, which takes tickets and points away from people lower down the pyramid.

So say my adult daughter and I take out a membership and we go into ballot for home games how do we ensure that we both get tickets for the same game. Not much fun doing a 560 mile round trip on your own!!!

Loads of games got to general sale last year, which means lots of tickets went to non SB members. Having a ballot - which looks to be aimed at those who have SB membership - means the club can sell more memberships generating more income, basically no membership no chance of a ticket.

Your memberships can be linked under friends and family. I imagine that when it comes to the ballot you will effectively make a linked application for 2 tickets, so that you either get 2 tickets or none.

I’m hoping that’s how it works because I will be in the same position as you!

It is. The club confirmed yesterday when you apply for the ballot you do it as a group rather than individually.

Don't disagree re your last point. But people need to remember that last season only two games didn't get down to 15+ (with smaller allocations generally). As usual, there is a fair overestimation of the number of people that are sitting at 20+ points.

Would be interesting to know how many people are in each band but I dont suppose the club will release that kind of information, some GDPR reason I imagine.

I did hear there were only 4 people who went to every away game in the last L1 season, so you’re probably right about the overestimation there.

You will be able to get a pair of tickets if you are successful in ballot as long as other person is a member I believe

For someone to be on 20 points for the Man City game they will have needed to go to 10 away games last season and been a member for both seasons. I doubt that amounts to more than 1500 people all told. Virtually everyone I know is somewhere between 10-19. I would think anyone that went to a handful of away games last season and was a member both seasons has a reasonable chance of being able to get tickets and build up their points early this season if they choose to.

Exactly. People have to remember there is the season ticket resale option this year. I'm an ST holder but approx 5 games in a season due to other commitments Ive advertised on here before but will put up on the ticket sale site now that we have that option.

If you're new to memberships, presumably you didn't have one last season, so you won't get entered into the ballot.....!

Just a query. I've got a membership and have 7 points band, as has my son,who is 15. Pretty sure we won't get the chance to buy tickets for the away matches in the first sales so will need to rely on the ballot. If I get pulled out of the ballot, will I be able to buy 2 tickets, one for me and one for my son? Neither of us would want to go on our own. If my son got a chance to only buy one ticket in the ballot, just for himself, he'd have to turn it down as he couldn't go without me.

Seems a missed opportunity to not have a second ballot for new members rather than a first come first served bun fight after the original ballot.

Surely balloting would be better assuming a computer system could then ensure that if you are unsuccessful for a particular fixture then at your next application your odds would be improved thus creating a slightly fairer system.

Agreed. And I think when we went up before in 2000, I thought all members got put in the draw and it was just random, and then if you got chosen you had less chance for the next few draws or something like that.

It was my dad who did it then so I don't know the full details.

The membership for new members like ourselves is, as you say, a bun fight at 10am on Wednesdays for 2k tickets....! Some of which will be restricted view presumably.

There are other perks to it but as I said on another thread, I'm not local so wouldn't use the majority of them.

EDIT: but without one, you've got no chance for league games anyway.

I can't remember not being able to catch games in 2000 as and when I wanted to.

Sadly I have never been in a position to have a season ticket as either worked weekends or as now live in the North East. I also officiate at National North level albeit not every week.

I guess us exiles will just have to see how we go.
There are also a few kind souls on here who have the points etc and may help out with away games or even home if the kick off time prevent attendance.

As I said above will very much be suck it and see for a season.

As I recall you were guaranteed a certain number of tickets per season - I believe it was 4?

I was in living in the Netherlands at the time and came back for the Arsenal game, managed to get another ticket for my Dutch wife , but we were sitting separately. She was a huge Bergkamp fan and instinctively got up and cheered when he scored - which didn't go down particularly well in the SAR.
