If McKenna works his magic.. 11:23 - Aug 15 with 2913 viewsThe_Romford_Blue

..which he will, Phillips is some player.

3 years ago he was voted as the England player of the year. He’s still young. He was worth 60m at a time.

You could make a strong case that on paper he’s the highest quality player we’ve ever signed

Poll: Would you take a draw tonight if offered right now?

He is beyond doubt the highest calibre player we have have signed in modern era. Superb signing. Just need a left winger and striker, SS covers both these needs in one player so need to get him done.

I think he’s clearly the highest quality player we’ve ever signed, and I don’t think it is that close.

Obviously things haven’t gone well for him at City, but his pedigree before that is far in excess of anyone I can think of.

Come on now, he's no Toto Nsiala.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Lots being said about his time at west ham, but he had a lot going on behind the scenes. Saw his father for the first time in 7 years (currently in prison), who knows how that went, and not sure if that was the only time in 7 years or if visits continued, he spoke of not liking to see him but rather speak to him.

So having that going on, injuries, fans calling him sht, he went from being a much loved player at leeds, to a bit part of many city, loaned to west ham, many forget these are humans as well as well paid footballers.

a niche perspective

Admin - Can Toto and Nsiala be banned words please? **Shudder**

Some people thought he was quite good.........!

Phillips is clearly a player with talent. Just been sitting on City's bench (or injury table) and a handful of games at West Ham.

He could be our Ross Barkley (i know he's a different type of player)

Muhren maybe? Or Mariner. Both would be very close, and possibly Muhren edges it. That’s neither here nor there though. If KM can get him playing with confidence we’ve bagged hell of a signing, even if it is only a loan. This is exactly the sprinkling of quality I hoped we’d get. It’s been slow coming, but another couple of this quality and things are looking a lot better.
