Couldn't hear in upper Churchmans. And they don't put the substitutions on the scoreboard, so if you can't see the big screen you have to rely on guesswork for the opposition. |  | | |

I Guess it depends what you want from a match day PA.. for me and im sure most people Rob Chandler is the blueprint. He just always seemed to hit the right tone.

This new guy is for me (and everyone is different) a bit to OTT. Even when he read the team out putting emphasis on all the numbers and names it felt like I was at a pantomime.
But as I say, I genuinely believe in Rob Chandler we had the bets in the business and since then it has been hard to recapture that, a bit like Fergie leaving United. |

tbh I was never that much of a fan of Chandler, except for Bolton semi final, always felt I was listening to one of his Broadland shows,. so I dont go along with the he was the bestest ever, people are just over reacting (as always) to change.
read the team list out, call the subs, create a bit of atmos, play some tunes, grab a grand, interview someone at half time. I dont think any who have done the job have really got that stuff wrong. | | | |

He was pretty enthusiastic, but it was his first time, and our first time back in the Prem, with Liverpool the guests. I think you can forgive it.

Not an easy job for the announcer but of all the times to make a hash of Hey Jude. Home to Liverpool (and the world watching). Surely it's easy to have a cut off point and give it priority over any more talk. You know when kick off is and how long it takes to play it. It should just start playing over him as a reminder that talk time is up. HJ is an opportunity to set the tone for the crowd and get into the minds of the opposition that Sleepy Suffolk doesn't apply to Portman Road. It's an advantage to be used properly. | | | |
