Half and half scarves, a massive stadium and no noise, people leaving after half an hour both halves, some weird sheet presentation on the pitch beforehand, VAR not making sense, a big queue for the bogs. As an experience, that was about as poor as it gets for me. Even watching two dozen of them Poznan was a bit pitiful and made me feel sorry for them rather than sneer.
It was great taking the lead, the away end were a credit to us too, but apart from that it’s hard to pick out highlights. Everything else is either filed under damage control or hope for the future.
Muric was hopefully trying too hard because he did make that decent save in the second half. But he also made some bizarre kicking choices alongside the obvious rick. The penalty was weird as in the stadium the ref pointed to a goal kick. The replay looks like it was a penalty so fair enough.
But not giving the Davis one, let alone looking at it when going in at 3-2 might have turned our mindset a little is huge for me. I don’t get why it wasn’t checked or given. It’s annoyed me.
I didn’t like Szmodics swapping his shirt at the end, for me it shows you don’t see yourself as equal. But it’s not a big deal, and given I wasn’t fussed about signing him he’s turned out to be a revelation. Hard to see where Chaplin fits in, alongside a few others who’ve featured so far.
Delap looks a proper player, I really hope he gets a decent return this season. If he gets more chances than he has had so far he will no doubt be a danger. My big hope is that rather than free hits, this start has been a benchmarking exercise for everyone.
Can’t blame City fans when you shell out that much money as fans, but they’ve lost their club completely. Soulless and sterile. I’d hate to see that happen to us.

Those LED adverts around the Man City pitch seem double the size at Man City than other stadiums. They look horrible on TV with all those images moving around, so distracting. I imagine they are worse at night matches. |  | | |

Agree with OP. Everything wrong with football. They were pretty electric for a 15 minute spell early in the first half. When the game was won, their intensity dropped a lot. |  |

Have to say, I agree about the shirt swapping. We have to see ourselves as equals to the opposition, otherwise defeats will come. Asking to swapping shirts makes it feel like we see ourselves as inferior. Really minor, but I do hope McKenna nips it in the bud.

We were surprised to see how many left early. 15mins plus extra time to go and they were leaving by the 1000, ground was almost empty by 90mins! Those soulless bowls often have poor home support but they were really quiet. | | | |

That last paragraph is bang on, it was like going to wembly or the o2.. fans leaving on 80 minutes at 3-1.. just a stadium full of tourists with a scattering of city fans, absolutely soulless that stadium. Think Davis deserved a penalty.
I thought/hoped once we got promoted that we would go all out for Kelleher as our goalkeeper. In my strange old head, I saw him as our number one target. Muric it is though and today Muric was poor. We all know the drill at this level when bad mistakes are made.
When a club chasing 5 in a row is bereft of soul, then we are left with the strange ecstasy of reaching a soulless place. There will be a different spotlight on City soon with the upcoming investigation/hearing. It money that’s made them. Will that same money now break them? 115 counts. 115. It’s extraordinary.
I imagine Portman Road will be rocking for Fulham. Soul. Still, I’d bite your arm off for a 1-0. Hopefully Muric can make amends. |  |

Was the old Wembley a soulless bowl miles from the pitch? They were probably quiet because they were playing us rather than Man Utd. I’m hoping that it’ll be totally different if they were playing them or in the CL semis. |  | | |

You can't give a team like City 3 goals. Really frustrating as we were excellent I thought. So many positive performances. Like you say, they had gears to go through and were in control but second half in particular we limited them to 1 real chance before Haaland scored late. | | | |

I genuinely don’t think they will get punished - they have the backing of a nation who will bleed the league dry in court for years.
The prem won’t want to lose that amount, nor will they want to damage the brand. | |
