Genuine concern here 13:39 - Aug 28 with 3358 views | 3_5_2 | I never imagined for one minute we would bring this number of players in I get it that “the players who got us here won’t keep us here” but how are they all going to setttle in / settle down and produce the team spirit needed to survive and prosper? We could be fielding a team with only 2/3 played from last season (Lief Mors and Omari) This is task to make this team gel. It really is. I want it to work but I have concerns. We shall see I guess [Post edited 28 Aug 2024 13:40]

It shouldn't take long to integrate into a KM side Clarke was basically playing the broadhead role Szmodics the chappers in and around the box finisher Ogbene, right sided attacking winger/wingback hybrid role Greaves/O shea, ball playing centre backs Muric, sweeper keeper etc etc No ego's, all wanting to be better, all wanting to succeed. More hours training than you'd get in the championship which helps further.

Genuine concern here on 13:47 - Aug 28 with 3188 views | Ryorry | I share your concern & have had similar feelings from the outset, but think our first two games highlighted the need for us to bring them in. Atm, I do wish we'd kept Hladky instead of signing Muric, but hope the latter goes on to prove me wrong!

Genuine concern here on 13:51 - Aug 28 with 3109 views | portmanking | How will they settle down and produce a team spirit? Well, the squad will continue to include the following: Morsy Davis Omari Woolfie Burns Chaplin Hirst (when fit) Broadhead (when fit) That's 8 of the promoted group, not an insignificant number at all and all of them are no doubt big personalities and a major part of the 'senior' group. Then there's the likes of Burgess, Luongo and Taylor who'll no doubt be integral at pushing/maintaining standards in training.

As long as the majority of those listed are happy being bench warmers. Either way, if things go to plan, they'll be moved on next summer anyway.

Genuine concern here on 13:57 - Aug 28 with 2994 views | Vic | I know what you mean but then I think that the players know that Prem football is a genuine squad game - and even more so with KM who they know will put 4 or 5 subs on every game. So they know they will be part of things. TBH, if a player isn't able to cope with that and feels entitled to be in the team every game then he's not the right player for Town under KM and needs to move on.

Genuine concern here on 13:59 - Aug 28 with 2951 views | BloomBlue | The need to gel is obviously critical. The PL is 38 games, and 38 points now appears to be the target to survive, that means averaging 1 point per game. You can write off games against the top 4, prob top 6, and top 10 will be a struggle, so not getting points from the last 2 is as expected. We play Fulham next, are they top 10? No I don't believe they are, a point against them will be a positive. But the team will still be gelling still on Saturday. The 3 promoted teams last season quickly understood that a bad start to the season creates a major problem when trying to play catch-up Now Southampton's defeat to Forest last week was a really bad result for them. Forest will be around the bottom, you need to beat those. It's no good just beating the 3 bottom teams if you in the bottom3. You aldo need to beat that small group just above the bottom 3 if you want to get out of it So as you say, the quicker we gel the better.

They won't be 'bench warmers' in the traditional sense. Think of them evolving from 'starters' to 'finishers'. Their role will have just as much importance in a McKenna squad. They may need to come on and nick a goal to earn a point or help us to hold onto a lead late on.

Genuine concern here on 14:07 - Aug 28 with 2772 views | chicoazul | It was always going to be like this. Our squad on promotion contained some players who couldn’t nail down a regular start in league one.

Genuine concern here on 14:07 - Aug 28 with 2763 views | Vegtablue | All should be bending over backwards to prove themselves worthy of belonging in the best and most lucrative league in the world (even Phillips' future at this level needs reconfirming after the past two seasons). Retaining belief that we're good enough may be a challenge if we struggle in the first few months but I expect team spirit is spot on right now.

Attacking wise, true. But the likes of Woolfenden, Burgess, Luongo and maybe Tuanzebe (depending on the use of Johnson) will, more likely than not, not be uses as finishers.

Genuine concern here on 14:11 - Aug 28 with 2691 views | bsw72 | Without a doubt, the type of player brought into the club has been considered. It's not just about ability but personality and drive. All of the players brought in seem to not have an overbearing ego, and are not in the press or social media flaunting. I would suggest they all have something to prove, either coming from the Championship or as existing top flight players who may have lost their way etc. I don't think that KMcK has made many mistakes with his recruitment, and his approach always seems to consider cultural fit, as well as everything else. The other thing to consider is that KMcK cut his teeth developing age limited teams (U18, U21 etc) and so by nature he is used to building new teams every year as the older bracket moves on. I'm strangely not worried, but incredibly EXCITED.
Genuine concern here on 14:11 - Aug 28 with 2680 views | Nutkins_Return | Of course a concern but at the same time I'd be more concerned to have not upgraded everywhere. Very good window in terms of what we could possibly hope for. Even still, we are very prem inexperienced and a bit of a gamble. But we've done everything we can do. It's positive. I would like to see us have a further reach for transfers and team showing what we can bring in that are more "unknowns". Obviously we are building that, and to an extent buying British for cohesion has been a strategy until we are established.

Especially when you add in that these players were carefully selected for character as well as skill (this approach has been mentioned many times by Ashton and McKenna) and that most of them seem to know each other already.

Plus the Manager, coaches, Captain and club leadership continuing to set the ethos. Aluko, reputedly very influential last season, is also now in that setup. We haven't been buying stars to "build a team around", but players to fit in the existing framework. That also helps.

Genuine concern here on 14:58 - Aug 28 with 2228 views | Blue_In_Boston | Football is a cruel game at times. As we inched towards promotion last season some players must have known that they were playing themselves out of a starting place, and some even out of the doors. Considering the two games that we have played we do look competitive, I guess it is keeping that concentration and work rate up for the full ninety.

Fulham are decent this season By no means anything but a tough game and we go in with 3 defeats now. The “fans” who think it’s a home banker are very much mistaken. The standard of the teams we are hoping to beat is higher this season again.
