Thought he brought some momentum when he came on.

Another nice little cameo from him

Maybe I should qualify my 'worst comment ever' comment.

I feel that Morsy-Luongo worked better as a partnership than Morsy-Phillips do (at the moment).
I know Morsy-Luongo played together for so long that they could read each other's game, so my point is, what - specifically -does Phillips add to the team that is worth more than losing that understanding?
I get that Luongo is slower, and struggles to last the pace, but surely there's more?

I want to be educated, as I haven't watched Phillips play in the past.
Does Phillips add better tackling / passing / shooting than Luongo or Cajuste or Taylor?
Or all of those in one player?
What do the stats say?

Anyway, peace and love to you all.

Some of Phillips' passes were superb today. Stuff that no one else in the side would pull off.

Bit like the Fulham game, I felt Phillips grew into it. If he can stay fit, play regularly, I think he’ll be an ever more important asset to us. He’s a proper PL player.

That was one helluva hit in the first half. Not seen it back but I was surprised the keeper stopped it.

I think a fair few called it that he’d be well equipped for the PL.

We’ll be good again... one day

He’s been unlucky since he joined really.

But for Luongos excellent form last season he’d have played a lot more games, was limited to cameos in the championship & hes carried that on into the Prem aswell.

Good on him.

Well...I have always thought there is a good player in Taylor. He gives 100% and will be a vital cog in the squad.

Philips will be ok too. Both very capable of playing at this level.

Taylor was brilliant and the second goal was more his assist than Omari’s.

He’s definitely raised his game which unfortunately does leave Luongo very much as backup, having not done much wrong.

That said Morsy clearly will miss at least 6 games through suspension this season so we’ll need that backup.

But the comment about Phillips not adding much. Unbelievable!! He was superb in that first half against an exceptional Villa midfield.

If you couldn’t see that you have even less footballing knowledge than the two Ipswich ‘fans’ who did the quiz at half time.

It is quite interesting that every season we are told how Morsy is frequently suspended and will miss at least 6 matches. And yet I can only recall him being suspended once for a retrospective red card. Did I forget a lot of other bans?

He defo had 1 for 5 yellows. Can't remember if he got the 2 game ban one...

Yep fair point although I think he’s missed 4 both the last two seasons.
Had he picked up a third suspension last season, I’m not sure we would have gone up so fair play to him.
But I always maintain most of his bookings are for tactical fouls because we’re out of position or we’ve made a mistake. That is going to happen more in the Prem and today he could easily have been sent off.
I hope I’m wrong but 4 bookings in 6 games suggests a suspension will come, although a 38 game season will possibly help him.
At least we have some cover now.

I can't see what Phillips adds ... and what have the Romans ever done for us?

Romans have done nothing for ITFC in fact they owe us a game (Lazio).

Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?

First point in your 'education '. You don't seem to realise we've changed divisions (very strange and renders your comparisons redundant). A Morsy /Luongo partnership would generally get torn to shreds in the PL over 90 minutes. That is before we even get in to the individual qualities of Phillips. Not really sure why I'm bothering really, for you to even ask that question you must be fishing.

Superb. Really brave offering himself for the ball at every opportunity, never goes hiding. Dragged us up the pitch, good decision making. Very impactful cameo yet again.

Looks like he really wants to take every opportunity he gets and fight for his place. Good on him.

Did we hear why Cajuste wasn't in the squad yesterday? A knock I assume?
