Yes, not sure how to resolve this in the medium-term without a drop in interest but I'm fortunate that I've been able to go to a decent number of away games every season, but by no means close to all, so had enough points when the restrictions came in.

There have been plenty of other times when that wouldn't have been the case, indeed the only years I've not had a season ticket since 1992 were when I was at uni but I could get to away games in the North west easily enough then. Trying to get back after a break was hard enough in 2000, let alone now and the away games even more so.

A bigger stadium would help............

I am sure the club are looking at what the critical mass is and how many fans are missing out.

For now even though I miss out I would prefer the club to invest in the playing side and try and cement us at the top level.

Maybe for this season, but next season we'll start with 3k in 30+ (assuming the same people are going to every game this season). There will be no higher bracket.

And for home tickets this year there has been little regard for historical attendance, so I wouldn't bet on it.

Maximising selling memberships will dictate in the future. I expect a scheme to guarantee at least one away ticket and one home ticket (non-st) perhaps on a preferential basis (so no guarantees of 1st selection)

At the start of next season, the Championship priority points will be erased.
There are only 19 PL away games; plus Wimbledon.
So the maximum anybody could be on at start of next season is 30.
5 for this year's membership plus 5 for next season's. Plus 20. for the matches They would have had to have gone to both Brentford and Bournemouth though, both with allocations below 2k.
So definitely not 3k at 30 points at start of next season.
There is of course the FA Cup to come which could add to away points further.

Completely unworkable.

Whatever system is used, demand will outstrip supply sometimes.

At the moment it does for us (but there were many years when it didn't), so there will always be people who miss out.

Yep, most people's complaints about the system can basically be boiled down to, I want a system that gives me these tickets, the end.

Just accept you can't go to every game at the moment, you'll feel alot less stressed about it.

I was told by the club that I should be ok to wait until Tuesday (but no guarantees)

The whole ticket buying process needs an overhaul, not just got itfc but in general. It is so old the current ways of purchasing tickets.

I mean, why does everybody need to jump onto a queue every 4 days, set alarms, miss work meetings etc. it makes no sense. You just need to indicate your intent to go to certain games, where you prefer to sit, and the system should do the rest.

It should ask "if demand exceeds supply, would you prefer to buy just 1? or just 2?'

There should be 100% transparency on how many people are in each category, how many are going to corporate / players families etc..

you should be able to see demand for each game, see how many people actually showed up to each away game, a proper 21st century system.

rant over

oh and the home game ticket buying process is crap now too if you have a mix of season + non season ticket holders

Very well said on spot on. I think the problem is that the club doesn't have to do anything and they know it. After all if you put your hand in a tank full of piranhas then you know the outcome.

Maximum points you could get for next season is 10 + 19 away matches + cup games.

So if we do not get another away cup match this season most anyone could have is 30.

In particular the club doesn't have to do anything as this is probably the least miles the team has had to travel in season since they were in Division Three (South). I imagine part of the reason the demand has been so high - apart from the obvious fact we've been starved of success for so long - is there's barely any of the usual treks up to the north or even Wales/Exeter/Plymouth that we've had so many of over the past two decades Instead the vast majority of our games are in London, South East and the Midlands with the only ones above the West Midlands area, the big ticket trips to Man City and Utd, the scouse clubs, and Newcastle. Add to that the fact that an early FA Cup knockout would put us on course to play possibly the fewest games in a season in our history (certainly our league history) and it's a bit of a perfect storm with supply meets demand this year.

I would fully expect though that as the novelty wears off and the reality of being trapped by a glass ceiling playing cannon fodder to the big boys and patronised by the media, that there'll be more ease getting tickets in seasons to come... For what it's worth there's no way I'm traipsing up to that sh*thole Anfield for a foregone conclusion or bother with a midweek Old Trafford trip having seen both those grounds already in better days - so there's an extra ticket early next year for someone...

I've had people take the p1ss out of me for going to some god forgiven place on Tuesday night in winter to see us get stuffed in years gone by. Now everyone wants to go and I get that to some extent. However, the people who irritate me are the ones who claim they are town fans but support another prem team!

2,701 for Villa there next month, think their new stand is done now.

How come only 2,701 - Villa Park must hold 40,000 +

Jake will be referring to Villa's away allocation for Craven Cottage.

On ParisBlue's scenario it's still conceivable, even if it couldn't arise until the third or fourth away game. I don't know if it's the same people buying every match though or if a decent number in the higher categories are still missing the odd game. Wimbledon was also under 2K wasn't it.
