Absolutely Play silly bugers with your lineup get silly results. Looks a right twit Before the game Greece have one of the meanest defenses at the moment Let's go with no strikers. Lolz [Post edited 10 Oct 2024 21:46]

Get some perspective. These games are exactly the type of matches to experiment in.

A team of individuals and no formation loses - shock horror - it’s like watching the trying to play gerrard, lampard, scholes in the same team all over again. Carsleys old enough to know better - palmer, Bellingham and foden are the same player / unfortunately it’s 1 or 2 max and that’s it as they suck all the space out of the rest of the pitch that we should be utilising [Post edited 10 Oct 2024 21:51]

Always a need to experiment in non tournament matches. To be fair, it was bad individual defending that cost us in the end. Onwards and upwards. No need for bed wetting.

That’s why we as an international team we will probably never win anything ever again - these are the games where we should be developing a core squad, an identity, a style of playing and familiarising your selves with team mates strengths and weaknesses. International players get little to no time to know one another let alone if the squad rotates and experiments every other game

Absolutely right. We should have a style of play where the best player for that position is the one who plays, no matter what. Perhaps have a bit of experimentation when you are 3-0 up, but it shows complete disrespect to the opposition when you mess around with your team and it only serves to fire them up further in an effort to beat you.

Just want a manager in charge of my national team - not a coach. Nothing against the guy, I just feel the job is far too big to give to someone like Carsley.

Playing 3 - 10’s is not a system. Remember when we tried playing - Bullard, Andrew’s and bowyer the same team - no width and they were getting in each others way - as soon as a decent opposition manager looked at how slow and congested we were it was game over - a congested England midfield and 2 wingbacks in Lewis and Arnold that can’t defend and it we got what we deserved - made to look shocking by a team who knows how to play together and played as a unit. When they attacked they did so with purpose, they defended with purpose and deserved the victory -

As Carsley was the FAI's no.1 for the ROI manager position part of me welcomes all of the English criticism. (I'd have him managing the ROi in a heartbeat so if you don't want him...) However if a manager cannot experiment with players and tactics while losing a match in 90+ minutes and gets eviscerated......well......this is why Carsley has repeatedly intimated that a successor is incoming, he has everything to lose like many before him.

No chance. Carsley out. Maybe next time we'll go without a keeper and see how that works out? First Safegate now this bald yes man. We need someone who the players respect, who has played or managed at the very top level. Fcuk the FA. [Post edited 11 Oct 2024 9:12]

To be fair to Southgate, he was very successful with the team. Two finals is nothing to be sniffed at.

I'm not too worried about the loss and quite like what I've seen and heard from Carsley so far. However, it was very much the system that was the problem last night, we managed to find a formation that meant we offered almost nothing going forwards and were constantly overrun at the back. As you say, that was the time to experiment but this one definitely didn't work. I can't help but feel that trying to fit Bellingham into the team is a conundrum that we'll have to solve over the next few years

If he's the world class player we think he is then maybe we should be building/picking the team around him rather than trying to fit him into the team? On Carsley - that has to be one of the worst interviews I've seen from a manager for a long time. That isn't the poise or talk of the leader we need. Nice guy, great number 2 but not right for the top job. Just my thoughts.
