Still probably the best corners i've ever seen a player take

Ulrich Le Pen typifies the luck we had that second season in the PL, after finishing 5th. He was a light, skillful player, with a reported wand of a left foot, bought specifically to deliver quality crosses into Stewart & Armstrong. But he got crunched after about 10 minutes of his debut (welcome to English football) and I don't think he played in the league for us again. The signing made sense, but I think his family didn't settle & he was a bit resentful over the tackle, so by the time he recovered from the injury, he wanted to move back to France. Finidi & Stewart both broke a cheek soon after, and suddenly all our good luck with lack of major injuries the season before, came back to balance up. Who knows what might have been had those 3 avoided injury early that season. [Post edited 17 Oct 2024 13:09]

Niche Ipswich heroes on 13:17 - Oct 17 with 1267 views | Franzgumm | In terms of homegrown players - Josh Carson. Could never fathom why he didn't go on a forge a top level career. Overseas signings - Gus Uhlenbeek. His runs down the right wing from full back were a joy to behold. Over the past 10 years - Jonny Wiliams, if we could have signed him and kept him fit, he would have become a club legend.

I was a big Mahon fan, I hadn't been going to games long when he came in. We had Makin injured and the next choice was Matt Richards who wasn't really up to it.
