You may have noticed that the excellent Call me Ted artwork was relegated to a gatefold at the back of the programme vs Everton.
It was thought this was to do with it being the "No room for Racism" fixture, I wrote to the club to clarify.
Turns out the sponsors didn't like them and they won't be on the cover again. In my opinion having their logo on an innovative cover design has far more value than appearing on a generic, standard design. Once again money talks (but has no taste).

Ironically, this makes the programme less worth buying / less collectible and makes it FAR LESS worth spending more than a second looking at the front cover…
So those sponsors are getting far less bang for their buck.
Ridiculous, corporate nonsense, squeezing some very welcome personality out of something so positive and unique to the Club. |

This is absolute nonsense.
I definitely spent a bit of time appreciating the the front cover of the first three programmes (whilst noting the sponsors subconsciously) compared to the latest version which features the standard match photo of Ali Al-Hamadi.
It shouldn't annoy me, but it does. I was hoping there would be a nice set of the Call Me Ted FRONT covers to go through the end of the season. |
Absolutely this. I work in branding, so I know how ridiculous companies can get about this stuff - often without logic - but in my opinion, it's better to have your logo on a cover that people will look at, rather than one where people will just flick it open and start reading what's inside.
Also, they're completely missing the point that good covers get shared on social media - I've seen people posting pictures of our programmes (especially the Villa one), and that's even more eyes on the sponsors' logos.

Agree this is a rubbish decision - I was one of the extra buyers, and another one who noticed the sponsors more as I spent time looking at the cover for once, dohnuts the lot of 'em - but I was also under the impression that programmes make little cash for clubs these days and some have done away with them altogether. Hopefully that isn't the case with us and Ted gets a reprieve. | | | |

So many people asked, so I’ve set up an online petition to let the club know how many fans loved the gig-style artwork that graced the first few covers of Town’s programmes this season.

You may not have loved all the designs individually, but this fan-led concept is such a great one, and I hate to see our club kowtow to sponsors and partners when there is such a simple solution to the problem — simply ask the illustrators to remove any logos from their artwork.
