Mark Ashton on Radio Suffolk from 6pm on 16:30 - Nov 4 with 5552 views | Zx1988 | Something I was going to mention on this subject... I was told about this on Saturday by a friend who's in the know on such things. Apparently it was originally going to be a phone-in, but that was eventually vetoed by the club, who decided that they wanted submitted questions only. Maybe Mark didn't want to face uncomfortable questions such as 'why can't we take our bottle caps into the ground?' and 'can you not have a word with the council about parking fines on matchdays?'. If that does transpire to be the case, I wonder if we've seen the last of the fan forums for the foreseeable future?

I’ve wondered about where the fans forum has been this year, isn’t it a Premier League rule that clubs have to hold 1 or 2 a season? EDIT - it’s an EFL rule. https://thefsa.org.uk/our-work/supporter-engagement/premier-league-and-efl-rules Guess with the PL one then this radio appearance and last weeks interview fall within that? It'd be a shame if they were only being held out of obligation, rather than a real desire to engage with the supporters. Maybe I'm being a bit dramatic, but with the various corporate-style shifts and missteps that have happened over the last six months or so, I'm getting more and more of a feeling that now the club is where it wants to be, the supporters can take more and more of a back seat as their share of the revenue pie gets ever smaller.

I doubt that is the case at all. They may well be waiting for the right time, right now we need to focus 100% on getting some wins together.

Given the state of the usual phone-ins to Radio Suffolk it's probably sensible to not waste everyone's time by letting a load of divs who think they're know-it-alls blather on about a load of nonsense for 5 minutes. Should be getting the fan forums back on though - there's been quite a lot of change at boardroom level for one and quite a few other things that are probably worthy of direct feedback to the people who matter.

Next major development at PR is the West Stand, not Cobbold! Look to increase that by around 4,000.

Think we need to give a while to see how the new Fan Advisory Board works. Personally not against some filtering of questions as long as the questions that are asked end up being around the topics that people want answers on.

Easier to work with isn't it? Build onto fan zone. Then take the roof off at the end.

Increasing that by 4,000 will make room for the 4,000 from the Cobbold when that gets demolished! Assume they’re build up and complete new roof meaning no restricted views.

That actually makes sense, and can see why that would be easier and quicker to do.

F@@k sake. That's the one development that concerns me. MA himself spoke of O'Leary keeping him in check, and one of the themes from Bristol fans is that him wearing all the hats was a contributory factor to it all going wrong. You need separation of church and state in these roles.

Mark Ashton on Radio Suffolk from 6pm on 18:58 - Nov 4 with 4655 views | victorysquad | Like the comment on being at the top table again. He is right of course, that has to be the goal. We are in the most difficult stage right now, if we can get through this season and stay in the League, I think we can kick on. We need to go into Sunday pushing for a win, that has to be our mentality from the stands, and we need to go full-on fro 90 minutes like at Brentford. [Post edited 4 Nov 2024 18:59]

Bit of a power trip that for me. Nothing wrong with ambition etc. And fair play all he's done. But it's wrong for him not to be accountable to anyone other than the owners. They give alot of oxygen and sometimes the supply needs to be slowed down a bit.

That's the potential difference for me. A big American consortium with wider aims is, hopefully, a different kettle of fish to a local boy done good in Lansdowne.

What went wrong at Bristol exactly? They were as good as they have ever been and have excellent facilities.

Obviously not been around a lot of chairman Frimmers. They generally (not saying Mike did, probably the opposite in that case) do naff all apart from rock up once a year and approve some resolutions generally around pay or rubbish. Our ownership model will certainly keep him accountable and he has a great deal of respect for the fans and community. I don't think it's a power trip thing, more of just a statutory role for CH purposes.

I know a fair share thank you. And no they don't just rock up once a year. Mike certainly never did either. But the owners won't be involved day to day.. having someone below them but someone ashtons answers to was sensible. That's not to say its all suddenly gonna go wrong. Not saying that at all..but it's not right imo to not have a separate chairman to ceo.
