Greg(g) Wallace on 15:01 - Nov 28 by lowhouseblue | and he grew up at a time when both 'cheeky chappies' and greengrocers told 'blue' jokes. not realising that you don't do that now in workplaces may be his only sin (or as others have pointed out, there may be other stuff to come). |
Although he was warned about it in 2018 so he should've reined it in. I guess you can take the greengrocer out of the greengrocers but you can't take the, erm, greengrocers out of the greengrocer!

It feels along the lines of the usual MO. Release the edgy but not that bad stuff, and wait for the lip-service apology and statement that confirms that the person in question may have said questionable things, but has never done anything more than that. Wait a few days. Release the text messages/videos/pictures. ***Edit*** Not stating that this is what will happen in this instance, merely how these things often pan out. No suggestion that Greg has done anything more than be inappropriate in the workplace [Post edited 28 Nov 2024 16:08]

Not very fair given there's no evidence of any of this. And I shouldn't think Phil will be too happy with slanderous comments on here.

Not sure that's enough IMO. You can't really say "It feels along the lines of the usual MO", list a load of defamatory things, and then add at the bottom that you're not saying it's true in this instance. It's like putting "allegedly" at the end of a load of made up stuff! Why not just remove the stuff there's no evidence for?

Greg(g) Wallace on 14:43 - Nov 28 by lowhouseblue | trouble is that with these stories you never know where on that scale things are alleged to have occurred. for very good reasons vague descriptions of the allegations are used. if it was just a case of someone allegedly telling inappropriate jokes in the workplace that would be at the very low end of the scale. i suspect many celebrities don't really understand that a tv set and locations are workplaces like any other. |
based on this, and again there may be more and worse to come out, it feels to be at the very low end of the scale. certainly not appropriate in the workplace but probably of minimal impact in many other settings. professionalism is a must in the workplace and means that everyone is comfortable and is included - it is different to the pub. but it does seem a bit hypocritical to have a 'celebrity' who essentially trades on screen as being a 'cheeky chappie' and a south london greengrocer from the 1970s and then clutch our pearls when it turns out that he's like that in real life. it's not acceptable in the workplace, and he should absolutely know that, but in another setting it would hardly be shocking? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cdje0kp7zewo

Greg(g) Wallace on 10:58 - Nov 29 with 1081 views | wkj | This isn't a post defending him, though if the alleged is true - it does seem miles apart from what we've seen with other sex allegations. Early in his career, I suspect that Wallace had a habit of making sexual jokes as a form of banter with no intention of being predatory or offensive... you know, just a bit of banter. As time went by and his celebrity grew the explicit nature of the allegations got more explicit and horrible, and I suspect he was feeling bullet proof as a biproduct of his popularity. Does this mean people should go easy on him? Probably not, he made people feel unsafe and had the opportunity to correct himself following a warning- instead, he got more and more explicit. (Do you stick your finger up your boyfriend's bum?) The basic facts are he's not seemingly done anything illegal and not physically engaged, or attempted to engage, with anyone. This is a case of extreme sexual harassment rather than rape, assault, trafficking, or paedophilia. In any case, I look forward to not seeing him on the TV ever again if the alleged is true - and if it isn't true, I go back to wishing I didn't have to see him on the TV ever again. I find him likeable on screen, not sure why anyone would be that bothered by him to wish to never see him on screen again. Marcus Waring annoys me more! But I largely agree with the rest (and what lowhouse has said). Just seems like a cheeky chappie (we all know a few) who's maybe over-stepped the line a bit. Especially as he's in a workplace, not down the pub. It doesn't read as proper sexual harassment to me (and certainly not "extreme sexual harassment" as you've worded it) but trying to be funny in a bit of an old-school, largely outdated way.

Given that he is famously pedantic about the correct spelling of his first name you should probably edit it so Gregg has got the right number of 'g's in it. Otherwise people might think you're talking about a different Greg. [Post edited 29 Nov 2024 11:33]

Taking your top of and offering a female colleague a fashion show, as alleged is what I would call extreme. Nobody wants to see a Millwall tattoo on a body that looks like a 5 foot pair of balls.

It would have Netflix boxset written all over it. Si King: sent to Coventry Si wrestles with how to replace Gyokeres' goals, and whether to implement an inverted W or more conventional Wing Back strategy. But first, there's 20,000 burger buns to be proved and baked. Will they be ready in time? Or will Si leave the Coventry Building Society Ground faithful starved of both rolls AND goals?
