Other than a moment of sheer stupidity from Szmodics, we haven't been well beaten on the day.

Competitive to a point. The lack of strength in depth is hurting right now

We finished with Burns - lacking confidence , Broady just back from a huge lay off , Jack Clarke who I’m not sure what to say about him and we’ve really only one fit “fit for purpose “ striker

Roll on January

We do need to start getting some wins though, it's not going to work for us to be competitive but keep losing or drawing. Hopefully the next few games we can be more than just competitive.

We were not really competitive though. Forest looked really poor and we did not create a chance in the second half.

Agree. And things are still close down there, even after Palace's equalizer and with us playing them next that's not a dreadful place to be.

Not a great afternoon, but we've had much, much worse afternoons in the not too distant past!

This. It was a poor second half performance against a poor side, and not the first time we've said that this season. See Southampton, Everton, West Ham...

That's certainly the narrative we're supposed to follow.

Should have got something out of today, but yeah, we are really missing Hirst and KP, and even Ogbene.

Indeed. Competitive involves getting points and we never really looked like doing that today.

We were definitely competitive in the previous 2 matches and got 4 points in the bargain. Need a similar return from the next 2 matches really. Lose to Palace and get no more than a point next weekend too, we start to put ourselves under pressure.

Could do with another striker in the building.

First half we were competitive but second half we were not on it at all.

It's positive that we were only really beaten by a soft peno but we really showed no initiative after that. The injuries are really hurting at the minute though, the last 2 years we've been able to call on the cavalry on 60-70th minute but the drop off is too big at the minute and the replacements are not giving the team the kick required.

On the final point, the most annoying thing is it was obvious we needed a third striker throughout the summer. To go into transfer deadline day without one, and then making a hash of it on the day itself, cost cost us. I hope we don't take the whole of January to get someone in like last year.

We didn't create much and neither did they, so a close match in the respect, but the onus was on us to salvage something after the unforced error and I thought we struggled to apply pressure throughout to be honest.

We have to be at our best to be competitive. Good teams when off form or are struggling, pick up points. We don’t because although we’ve done really well in some games, we are not good enough - especially with an injury list about as bad as I’ve ever seen it. We’ve not even played a great many games.

The reality is that we are at a huge disadvantage to every other PL club, been out of the top level for decades and it shows.

No reflection on the lads or the manager or people running the club. It’s just how it is. They deserve time, patience and support. We are going to need a few reinforcements in Jan if they are out there and we can afford them.

Injuries hurting , how we could have done with Hirst the last 20mins and a right back that could put quality crosses in.

Getting that striker has been problematic ever since McKenna arrived and we have repeatedly chosen to bide our time for the right player. It has led to Delap and Hirst being here. Far better than turning to Bonne and an injured Broja because they were available.

Remember where we were 3 years ago and accept that some solutions take a bit of time. In the meantime Al Hamadi or Broadhead will get a chance to develop that they wouldn't have been given otherwise. I am sure there will be preparations made to get someone in January but we won't be held to ransom.

We've been fine getting A striker in, but not enough depth. And this summer is especially annoying as it sounds like the deal with Latte Lath was acceptable to Boro, but we left it too late for them to source a replacement. If we'd dealt with that sooner, we'd be in a better place now - numbers wise, at least. But I imagine Ashton was, understandably, being wary of the financial regulations, so wanted an option which wouldn't cost so much. The Latte Lath move was perhaps a sign of desperation (cost wise rather than based on quality).

We were clearly in for Broja and it looked like that was over the line so I suspect that affected the Latte Lath situation. I wouldn't be surprised if we got one of Latte Lath or Ioannidis early in the January window.

I hope so. The key thing is to be in contact going into January so we can hopefully strengthen. More performances like against Villa, Leicester, Spurs and Manchester United and we will be. But if we repeat the second half today, or at West Ham, or the whole game against Southampton/Everton, and we'll be in trouble.

Sheer stupidity? Bit harsh.

He made a clumsy attempt to get the ball, and as ever, a more experienced PL player made the most of it and won a soft penalty.

Thought we offered nothing second half,
And gets worse when the subs come on they send us backward,
No strength or quality in depth,
Yes we compete for 90 minutes nope,
Long hard troll,
4 points minimum this week,

Biggest concern for me is that none of the substitutions improved us, quite the opposite in fact. That’s not a criticism of the players, but shows just how much of a leap it is from last season.

Point of order, not so much a more experienced PL player, so much as a theatrical little git.

Currently, Town remind me of Luton Town of last season, always competitive in games and rarely disgraced, however we all know what happened to them in the end.
