Has McKenna got it wrong 16:20 - Dec 21 with 5212 viewsMullet

Or has it just all gone wrong for him today? The step up in quality here is so big. Omari and Chaplin barely held the ball today. Taking one off hasn’t helped much.

Even our better players today Cajuste and burgess have made errors in the last two goals. I dunno if this is just one of those days for a promoted team or not.

Yes. But hardly the first time this season.

I have never ever seen us give the ball away as much as we have today. Davis just then wins it back and immediately passes to nobody. So so bad

Personally. Felt he's again tried to maintain a playing style over what may help us win the game. We don't have the players at this level to play mckenna ball so we need to stop trying too.

It was clear as day early on the midfield 2 wasn't gonna work it was sat in front of our box together. Yet we didn't change it at all.. it needed that 3rd man in there etc etc.

We are so rigid in our setup and formation. Best game we played was the 5(3) at the back.

Newcastle are miles better than us and we've made it easy for them. Nothing to see here, just move on.

I think we're just limited. He can only do so much with our squad and I know people are happy we have so many of those L1 lads involved, but unfortunately most are not up to it.

I don't blame him, he can only work with what we have, I don't think Jan will give us too many options either. Hate being negative..

The irony of this being that is what we are playing pretty much every week....

The system changes multiple times per game. McKenna has said this about 100 times.

Difference is the players performing it. Some like clarke don't come close to tuanzebe. So would oshea be better doing that and bringing Wolfenden back in. Or maybe the £15 cb signing etc.

I do think McK got it wrong by putting Szmodics up top. Not enough physicality and nonexistent out ball, leading to us being boxed in for much of the first half.

Aware that his hands were tied by Delap suspension and Hirst injury, but think Ali would have been better from the start.

Not that it would have changed the result. Newcastle too good for us today.

They have pressed us really hard and played at an incredible tempo

We have been totally overwhelmed like no other opposition really

No. Probably not. Clarke had a pretty decent game vs Wolves as well and probably deserved the game. DOS been one of our best performers in his current role. Just the way it goes sometimes.

Clarke was terrible last game. No better this game.

We have nothing up top today so the ball is just coming back. Think it was entirely predictable today. We need more options.

I mean I would rather Axel be playing, but he is injured?

If he played DOS there and he had a bad game, you would be on here moaning at McKenna for square Pegs and round holes and moving one of our best performers out of his role. McKenna cannot win with you until he is sacked and you can say "I told you so"

Yes I'd be moaning for him doing something I want him to do.

If you gonna have a go. At least make sense.

You've not liked the bloke since he walked in the door.. your agenda is whatever you can dig at McKenna for. It is a shame, you will miss him when he is gone.

Incorrect. I do however support ipswich not mckenna. I will critique the manager no different to players.

I won't miss him when he's gone. I'll be supporting ipswich just as I am now.

Because it was about a specific role. Hence he has been mentioned.

If we were talking about strikers at that specific point then he wouldn't have been.

In short they are just much better than us, not sure playing a different system / style would have made much of a difference.

Thought we looked better when KP came on, he picks a good pass but Burns was not on it today, shame as he is such a brilliant champ player, not sure if he can make it at this elite level, but, long season to go yet.

If we manage to get to year 2 in the PL, we would see a much closer game once we can assemble a squad of 20-30m quid experienced player at this level of which only have a couple of currently.

Knowing us we will probaly get something against Chelsea and Arsenal now...

On BBC Radio Suffolk they didn’t blame Clarke. Said Morsy wasn’t staying with his man so Clarke was effectively left marking two players and was damned if he went inside, damned if he stayed wide.

They'd all laugh at me if they knew what I was trying to do. To create a new strain of super-wine in half-an-hour with a fraction of nature's resources and a FOOL for an assistant. 'Bernard Black, he's mad,' they'd say, 'he's insane, he's dangerous.' Well I'll show them! I'll show them all!
