Firstly happy to keep any of our squad but clearly we will need to make room for signings (so no disrespect to any of our squad on here).

Ogbene - assume won't be registered for second half of season to make room (is there any rules around long term injuries that may allow them back in squad?).
Luongo - what a signing he was. Wasted not making squads so would like to see him sold/loaned as he deserves to be playing week in and out at his age.
Al Hamadi - has to go out and play and learn the game.
Harry Clarke - think he needs to play regularly somewhere to keep progressing with plan for him to come back next season.
Slicker - needs to go and have a half season playing regularly.

Needed:

Critical - CF, RW, RB. 3 most important signings for us.
Probably needed: CM if Luongo goes.

Think that would probably be our business done.

Think it is personally chelts.

I'd be looking at it with a big if that axel stays fit.. it's been a while since he's had a muscle injury we don't know how he's gonna fair after that.. we can't potentially risk going into the back end of the season with H Clarke and Johnson as our options.

Agree, love Axe but he has a worrying history of injuries.

Not sure about if its possible due to the loan agreement, but IF it helps us financially with FFP and bringing in other players ( a 9, for example), what if we sent Phillips back to Man City.
Half a season gone and I know he's had injury problems, but for what we've brought him in for and what we're paying him..... he has been underwhelming. He should be one of the first players on the teamsheet and not a squad player. I see some trying to shoe-horn into the team with Cajuste and Morsy..... and it's not what we signed him for. He should be leading the way and setting higher standards. If he stays - which I expect - I really want him to up his game. I think he's been a 5 or 6 out of 10 so far and we need him to be 7 or 8 out of 10. Let's not reputations cloud our judgement - we can get OK for a lot less. A better Phillips would be like a new signing.

We just can't spend 30 days chasing a striker. That's a given.

The upside, though, would be that if he could avoid being caught for 30 days, he'd almost certainly have the physical attributes KMc wants in a number 9.

3 in for me, but will have to get creative.

Right back, right wing/number 10 and a striker.

You would hope we’ve learnt lessons from previous windows, and not engaging with these ‘chains’ we’ve heard before.

Although Moore turned out to be a really good addition, we can’t be waiting until Jan 30th to be bringing in a CF.

Easier said than done and often just not realistic though. Boro for example aren't going to let Latte Lath leave until they have a replacement in the door.

And any decent loan targets we go for are going to have other clubs interested as well. So much like Bournemouth did last January, clubs will wait as late as possible to see how desperate bidders get in order to get the best deal for themselves.

We don’t need to bring Latte Lath.

As decent as he is, he’s another top Championship player, who we will have to overpay for - they want £20m+.

We’ve played that game already in the summer and it hasn’t paid off.

You would hope, given the knowledge a ST has been required for a period of time given Hirst injury.

Also this time around we're potentially at the top of a transfer chain, rather than waiting on a prem club to bring in another striker before letting someone go out on loan

Yeah we hope. But last Jan we had the same situ and we got moore on the last day.

Slightly different then because Hirst didn’t get crocked until Boxing Day. Also the fact that we tried to sign another striker on the final day of the summer window shows it’s an area they know needs strengthening. Whether they can get anything done early will depend on the position of selling /loaning club I reckon

Right back agreed we need someone in. Axel has been superb but his injury record is a worry,

Striker is a problem we want a player that can make a difference so ideally has Premiership experience but is also happy not to be a regular starter. I just can’t see who is available and would be willing to come to us. A loan player may be an option but again who is available. No point bringing in some one who takes 8-10 games to get up to speed. Our season will be over by then.

Midfield I think Phillips has been ok and really think there is more to come from him if he can stay fit and get game time. Morsy has been amazing since he joined us but I don’t see him as an automatic starter in the premiership. That’s harsh but I think we need other options and Phillips could be that player for us. Unless of course McKenna changes formation and is happy to start with 3 in midfield. We need someone who can match Cajuste energy and skill level he is our best midfielder and wish we could find a way to get 90 minutes from him.

Whilst hirst injury timing was different. The need for another striker was still the same. We didn't get one along with hirst in the summer which meant we went into the season with an issue should he get injured. Same really has happened this season even tho we signed delap. We still left ourselves short should hirst get injured..

a niche perspective

I wonder if we will do heavily weighted loan for Latte Lath. Expensive loan fee up front with the obligation to sign when we stay up.

Out.
Luongo goes with my massive thanks.
Al-Hamadi with the hope he finds a good club.
H. Clarke goes with my thanks.
In.
Charlton Morris.
Ben Sheaf.
Gustavo Hamer.

My ins are wishful thinking, but what a 3 to sign.

Sheaf and Hamer would be class but doesn't solve the right hand side.

Morris isn't Prem quality for me. Lutons other striker probably a better fit. It's defo Carlton a well ;). Seen a few people call him Charlton so guessing it's phone's correcting....

I was just using him as an example. That'll be the case for pretty much anyone we want to sign - good players that can make a difference aren't just going to be let go in the first week of January. Clubs will want to replace them or will be trying to play clubs off against one another for the best deal.

Ben Doak would be an excellent addition. Doubt Liverpool will sell but they have Lon recall in Jan and perhaps would consider stepping him up to a perm loan to us? Doing well at Middlesbrough so they may just decide to leave him there.

Was always confident the club were utilizing my advice on signings. Absolute evidence! 🤣
