How on earth is Cunha still available!? 09:26 - Dec 29 with 4490 views | Hackneyblueboy | I know we should get over it but the Premier league really is run like a Sunday pub league. How can it take so long?
How on earth is Cunha still available!? on 09:50 - Dec 29 with 3482 views | Zx1988 | Does anyone know if Wolves/Cunha have appealed? If so, could it be that they've requested an in-person hearing, which will have been delayed owing to the festive period?

Maybe that's the case, but it's such blatant abuse of the rules. Everyone can see there is no grounds for appeal other than to delay the ban. Look we're probably going down regardless but this manoeuvre by Wolves could effectively be a big factor to 9 points. I'm famous on here for my predictions and I see them beating Spurs today!

'I'm famous.' 🤣 They have appealed to delay the ban at the very least. It's within the rules, we would do the same. Nothing to see.

Does a frivolous (or cynical) appeal add a further match to the ban in this case? I jolly well hope so.

Is it still the case that a frivolous appeal can attract an additional ban? If that's the case, perhaps Wolves will see it as a decent trade-off, in return for having Cunha available for some potentially-winnable fixtures? Depending on how far back a hearing gets shunted, a five-game ban for Cunha could end up covering their matches against Newcastle, Chelsea, Arsenal, Villa, and Liverpool. If we managed to pull off something similar, we'd be lauding Mark Ashton as a genius.

As far as I'm aware there's no appeals process in this situation. A player/club either asks for a hearing after being charged or just accepts the charge. In this instance, I assume Wolves want to put their case, perhaps wanting to put over mitigating circumstances not shown on the video or similar, and that's been delayed over Christmas.

If Wolves now sell him in January, they could effectively have received no punishment at all!

Indeed. This league is not run with a view to fairness or an even playing field. Those qualities do not appear to be a priority for officials or administration.

Will be interesting to see what mitigating circumstances they have for him elbowing a staff member in the back of the head and pinching his glasses from his face. At a minimum it should be 3 games + 1 game extra for every one he has subsequently played so 6 in total after today.

If they do, it will be after having had the benefit of him for a run of games they can (and already have) got points from. It is disgraceful. Why did VAR not deal with it on the day? The ref dealt with Delap (for reasons which STILL have not been explained) after the whistle. It is not even handed to fail to deal with other after the whistle stuff- which could easily have been done even after the teams are back in dressing rooms. How do we get hold of the refs reports? Where is the transparency? We should be able to see what code was applied to that booking.

Not even sure VAR can get involved with anything that happens after the final whistle. Doubt Wolves have any valid mitigating circumstances and are simply playing the system and who can blame them, we would have done the same if our next game was Leicester. From memory ref spoke to Cunha after the event, pushed him away, perhaps he thought it was better dealt with after the event. Wolves are certainly better placed now than they would have been had already been banned.

If a ref can book players after the whistle, how can it possibly be the case that var cannot be involved? There was that assault on Hirst at the end of the spurs game ignored too. No excuse, but just ignored. Wolves are plainly benefitting, perhaps decisively, from the delay. The integrity of the game should be first priority. It plainly isnt.

That's the bigger issue, he's elbowed a member of our staff and pulled his glasses off in full view of the cameras, it's an open and shut chase There are no mitigating circumstances for him doing that, it's not like it was self defence etc That's on Wolves for a total lack of discipline on their part. Ait Nouri was luckier in the game earlier too, slapping Burns in the face for very little reason. As I see it, they have directly benefited by appealing the FA's decision and you totally understand why Wolves appealed for that reason but in this case the bad guys win [Post edited 29 Dec 2024 12:00]

How on earth is Cunha still available!? on 12:24 - Dec 29 with 2559 views | stonojnr | I dont know how true this is, because no doubt Wolves "def info" fans are as in the know as our own, so take this with a large pinch of salt. but from what these Wolves fans are claiming, theyve said Cunha/Wolves have made a counter accusation against Ipswich, about something that went on either during the game or post match that bits not clear, which the FA are investigating, and thats the cause of the delay dealing with the Cunha incident. because the theory goes I guess the FA will feel stupid if they only show they dealt with the one obvious thing, and not deal with the counter accusation even just to prove they made it up, if Wolves used it as mitigation for Cunhas behaviour, not that elbowing someone in the back of the head or ripping their glasses off should be mitigated at all imo. but as I say could be a load of hogwash, could be just a delaying tactic, yet in a daft way it makes sense the way the FA operate.

I'm sure they'll try to find something. Someone sent me this, which suggests the delay is nothing unusual in these circumstances.

Still very odd that elbow on Hirst wasn’t dealt with - despite us winning we should have pushed harder for review to ensure our players are protected. As for Cunha situation, absolutely farce.

The Hirst one was fractionally before the whistle and should have been a var Red. But it was another case of refs making things up- game has ended, lets not make a fuss.

If they sell him for £80 million plus, that's a decent amount to reinvest I think they paid about £50 million for him so he didn't come cheaply initially
