Poll: Pick a goal to win the derby in stoppage time...

Solid performance again from Walton, was good to see that he made that save at his near post at the end. Also, decent save first half from a Fulham header. I was really impressed with Johnson today, arguably our best player.

I thought he was fine. Muric claims more crosses but is more erratic.

Yes - solid in general play, however he never looks like he is going to save a penalty. Reminds me of De Gea at United who used to make great stops in general play but then just fall to the ground when facing a pen.

He was. But it's a bit painful for muric when Waltons being g asked to go long more than muric was.

a niche perspective

Walton for me is a 6/7 out of 10 each game. Never really spectacular, but generally solid and reliable in his performances. Decent again today.

Yet, the commentator said that prior to today he saved the last two penalties against him.

Yes, fine. No panics again. I would MUCH rather have Muric between the sticks for the pens though. No guarantee he'd have done anything with them, but I suspect he's better at facing them.

Walton did well. The first penalty of theirs is poor but a penalty save is increasingly rare these days.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

Walton again solid today. Defence is far more comfortable as they know what the keeper behind them is going to do. 180 mins and only goals conceded were pens. With the 1st one I think Walton looks worse as you can see he realised he was going the wrong way and tried to change mid dive.

I think that’s all you really need/can expect from a goalkeeper. A 10/10 would imply there’s something wrong with the rest of the defence if he’s having to pull off save after save.

Save shots, catch crosses, don’t chuck it in your own net and don’t keep dropping clangers and you can’t really ask for much more.

Especially since you can evidently just do some sort of interpretative dance halfway through your "run-up" to gain even more of an advantage.

Fully agree with the defense feels more comfortable with Walton behind them. I hope Muric is watching and learning how to direct the defense verbaly

Yep, 100% agree. You just know what he’s giving you each game. Walton has played 3 EPL games this season and not looked out of place.

Walton is clearly under instructions to generally hit it long, and I suspect he's happy with that. No need to feel uncomfortable as a defender when you know the ball's going back 40 yards over your head. I don't think this is a bad thing - I've long thought we should go longer more often if we have a target, but I dispute that Walton has better decision making than Muric or defenders just like him behind them more. He's doing what he's been asked to do very well and made a couple of good stops today.

I think arguing Walton is t better a decision making is going to be tough. We’ve seen a whole season of Walton barely putting a foot wrong snd helping us to promotion and half a season of Muric looking a little indecisive or making the wrong calls / not being aware.

For me, the clear difference yesterday was the call Walton came out to the corner of his 18-yard box to gather with one foot outside of the box. I just don’t think Muric would have made the call to go that far to take the pressure off. For all the clamour and stats about Muric making saves and being good at crosses, Walton has been just as good in his three games so far so for me, as I’ve always felt, that’s another misnomer no matter what BeeB stats we drag up.

Walton in til the end of the season.
