Players I’ve uniquely loved over the years as much as Janoi on 07:35 - Jan 8 by durhamj
Mick Stockwell - Mr Ipswich. He played all over the park and gave everything. His running style was fab, somewhat Idiosyncratic like Tom Cruises.
David Lowe - stylish and with a great finish. I remember a stonking header at Elm Park back in the day, shame he didn't continue to progress.
Mark Brennan - always thought he'd make it higher, but in a Town shirt, in the games I saw him as a kid (and he can't have been much older than me), he bossed the midfield and had a presence about him.
It was injury that did for David Lowe. Before that he was sometimes compared to Ian Wright.

Basically it's players you liked, but don't get mentioned so much, isn't it? The unsung heroes
So, off the top of my head
Ian Redford Ron Fearon (if only for the "Heeeeeere's Ronnie!" chant every time he took a goal kick) Steve Palmer (Went on a Donacien like journey from being someone who was falling short to a vital cog in the 92 team. His display in the 3-2 win against Newcastle at Portman Road which put us ten points clear was magnificent) Paul Mason Mich, Mich, Mich D'Avray Bobby Petta
There's probably loads more if I think about it.
Paul Goddard, there's another one. And Ivan Campo.

Another from the Lyall era. I give you dear old Frank Yallop.
My dad and I despaired at Frank’s efforts for years. He was part of the team that followed the Robson years and was on a hiding to nothing. Now he really wasn’t that bad compared to some, but we still used to laugh about him frequently. So there we were at Tottenham one evening smiling ruefully as he trotted out. And he goes and does this:
After we’d finished going mad, as you see in the scenes behind the goal, my dad says ‘yeah but he’s still a bit cr&p isn’t he’, to the general agreement of all around and me.
Would you believe it, Frank only repeated the effort a few days later against Man Utd. He made getting on for 400 appearances. Looking back we were a little harsh on him. The clip also shows Boncho scoring. Great celebration and great character too. I liked Bonchy Boncho.

Ian Redford for me.... always wanted ( and felt like he would) him along with Neil Woods to kick-start our team back to greatness but it never really happened.
Redford definitely yes but Woods was absolutely not

Yallop was very good for 2/3 season and one he was player of the year.

He was! We were a little harsh on him. He played like Paolo Maldini compared to the likes of poor old Graham Harbey.
We did vote him as player of the year a number of times. They used to have people with clipboards making a mark against a name outside the ground so you could walk round a few times and say ‘Yallop!’ And down the mark would go. We must have voted for him a couple of 100 times one season.
Did the same for Bullard in the hope that he’d get player of the year and sign up. He did! And clearly had an enjoyable summer!
Anyone mention Pablo Counago? Could disappear in games but would then produce a bit of magic that’d be worth the season’s entrance money. Looking back, he was a smashing player and fun to watch.

As an old fe**er mine are from much further back Danny Hegan Frank Brogan Funnily enough, a few years after I’d starting watching Town I worked with a guy who was the dead spit of Frank Brogan and was subsequently known to all and sundry as ‘Brogan’. Can’t recall his real name know.
Better to stay silent and be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt
